Hey Wessex, didn't you agree to end your conflict with Mercia by getting the territory at or below 30?

Spoiler: Ireland Turn 49 (click to show/hide)
Hohum. The Danes are almost here.
yeah I dont know what I can do to help you with the pict, mercia. I got a feeling if i go up there the army will just run into each other and kill each other as i dont think we can have like cooperative peace :P I will retreat back to the agreed border, but that mine is mine for now >:D
Its not really one turn away from the end. Its one turn away from the danes coming, which won't actually end the game.

And it would be in your best interests to ensure that the Picts don't eat Mercia, because if they do then you are going to be pretty screwed when their army which can now grow twice as fast (and is large enough to have wiped out Mercia) comes after you. Of course, being cautious so the danes don't overwhelm you is a pretty good course of action for the next few turns.

Current win conditions are thrown out at turn 50.  Only way to win after that is to kill off the Danes.

Talking longer term, on the (possible untrue) assumption that the Danes will be defeated.

I dunno, personally I think I would prefer it go the route of "The Danes are huge and a significant threat to everyone, but not quite large enough to necessitate that everyone band together to defeat them". But if people keep fighting heavily then the Danes stand a very good chance of being able to murder people and take over England.

No.

We agreed to everything below 30.

That iron mine is not yours. That iron mine is mine. If you take it from me, I will be forced to assume you are choosing to break our peace agreement.

Additionally, a simple way to assist would be to take a separate route from my armies.

By refusing to assist me against the Picts while simultaneously taking a valuable source of material for me to build an army from, I can only assume you mean to destroy me.

This is, obviously, unacceptable.

Yeah, its kind of breaking your peace deal. If you had specified earlier (eg. before he agreed to your earlier terms and sued for peace) that you wanted the mine it would have been one thing. But you accepting payment for peace, and attacking literally at the same time is an obvious violation of the terms with which he sued for peace.
E: Sweets. Everyones turns are already in.

Sorry about the delay, updating in just a moment. Incidentally, have any of you considered joining Varee and I in playing mafia? There's a game for beginners in sign ups right now.

I would, but I am shockingly bad and no amount of beginners games will help that.

Spoiler: 863 AD (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Battle Log (click to show/hide)

The shipyards along the Irish sea resound with music of saws and hammers as new galleons are made. Intelligence had reached the High King that many longboat raiders had been spotted raiding small monasteries and a fuller invasion force from the south was expected any day now. Pictish blood was spilt on the isle of man as that craggy rock finally came under control of its third owner.

On the mainland, the Pict razed a series of occupied Northumbrian towns as they slashed and burned their way south. Their own galleons were sent out along the Northsea, as they had heard of viking attacks in the Shetlands and Orkney Isles and the smallfolk were begining to fear raids in the region of North Tor.

The Welsh continued to raise men in Aberaeron and Machynlleth, lest Danish longboats heading for Ireland choose to strike the Dumnonii instead.

Wessex and Mercia had the greatest reason to fear. Intelligence had reached them that a great heathen army led by Ivar the Boneless was currently assembling in Francia, a union of many tribes intent on pillage. If they were to attack Britannia then East Anglia, Londinium, or Kent would be their most likely landing point. The folk of BungKarn, Londinium and Shorine were beginning to fret; a invasion force of this size would be in great excess of any local raiding band.

((The above contains clues to the likely nature of the Danish threat.))
