Spoiler: Battle Report (click to show/hide)

The Picts rode on Birmingham but were repelled by a well equipped squad of pikeman who broke the strength of the horsemen as they rode up the hill.

"What else could go worse!" demanded Causantin in his iron mine hideaway.

"Manchester has fallen..." said one of his advisers. Causantin flipped over a table. "There is good news," continued the advisor.

"Yes?"

"We took Peebles."

Causantin calmly placed the table back and flipped it right over again.

"To seven hells with Peebles, I need Egbert and Coenwulf's heads!"

Well if you didnt attack the northumbia in the back i wouldnt attack you in the back.

Me and Northumbria had no formal peace treaty.

And it was so very ripe for the plucking.

Besides, you aren't really close enough to my cities to be more than a nuisance for the moment. As I've said, Pictland is the threat. And besides that, I have to attack someone. Half the point of the game. Surprises are the best for that. You went to war with me over, what, principle?

Is it just me, or with a lower max tech level and an initial start, do wars seem to last longer?

You both have to agree to trade.

To trade, both include the trade amount in your spoiler tags (e.g. one person writes Pictland gives Wales one million stone for two wood and the other writes, Wales gives Pictland two wood for one million stone. If the amounts match, you can both afford it, and you can meet the conditions for trading (detailed below) then I'll edit in the change to the amounts in the admin panel:

Should have clarified this earlier. In Dark Age, resource trade requires a road connection between two cities or two coastal cities with docks (connected by a stretch of water which isn't blockaded). The exception is Money, which can be traded with anyone regardless of where they are. You can't trade land and you can't trade units. Trade can be made on whatever terms both parties agree to (i.e. it can take the form of tribute or gifts).

If it's just a git, then the person doing the giving is the only person that needs to include anything in their spoiler tags.

Zanz, I like the internal narrow ocean on your map: these kind of soft-borders are nice as they encourage cleverer naval tactics. Would you start with tiny settlements like normal or have existing countries?

Is it just me, or with a lower max tech level and an initial start, do wars seem to last longer?
Probably no one reaches an absolute advantage for a long time.

Existing countries in order to be able to balance resource intake.  I would like to have 10, but if I don't get that many players I will need to combine a few or redesign the country shapes.
