If you got the turn from the posted one, that shouldn't be the case.

An army is just a container for units. If it doesn't have any, it gets disbanded during the turn and you can't actually move it or do anything with it besides put new units in or disband it manually which serves mainly to get rid of clutter.

Try clicking on the name of the army in the army screen, like so:

Well...I don't know whether splitting the Dane Bomb into four groups will make it stronger by distracting people or weaker since everyone can just kill it anyway. >.<
I wouldn't want the game to turn into Everyone Gets Beaten By The Mod, so I deliberately made it more of an interesting threat than an existential threat.
True.

I'm more worried about whether I'll be able to get enough momentum from this to become an acceptable challenge, at the very least, for everyone else once the Danes all finally die. And they will, eventually, die. They don't have enough of a foothold to really survive long at this point. Not now that everyone actually has a navy worth half a damn.
It depends on a lot of different factors, but I'm pretty sure the answer is no. You alone won't be a sufficient threat to challenge everyone else, unless the Danes incoming armies do manage to do quite a bit more damage then I am expecting them to.

Now, if you work together with the Danes, and everyone doesn't gang together against you (which is the most probable outcome), then you will probably be almost completely fine.

notquitethere: I'm not quite sure if I'm going to pay off the Danes for Wessex this turn yet. I need to talk to Varee about his plans first.

It's a matter of me capitalizing on their carnage and helping to distract from their carnage so they can continue to wreak carnage.

Aka we work together to eat Wessex and possible Wales and now I have another umpteen cities.

I think that at this point since the Danes are playing by normal rules, paying them off shouldn't be possible anymore. >.> Your decisions were made, and it's turned into more of a gimmick at this point.

Evidently the whole Welsh army had a feast to celebrate the new Commander and got falling-off-your-horse drunk last turn.

Spoiler: 881 AD (click to show/hide)
Spoiler: Battle Log (click to show/hide)

At every turn the Danes are repelled on the field. Catapulters in Wales, knights in the Wessexlands and a Halbedier in the Highlands all fall to the blows of their numerous foes. The rout does not extend to their cities, as black flags fly over Almwch and Bore. At sea, the Danes are slowed in the south and fail in their plan to burn the Irish ships as they leave harbour. And yet the reinforcement ships still sail ever closer...
