Yes, I have very little motivation of playing this game any longer. Since I have very slim chance of winning.
Yeah, no worries. There really isn't anything you can do at this stage. Your spearman can probably burn another one of my tiles or maybe two, but that's pretty much it.
E:
My thoughts on what you should have avoided: You should have kept your two units together. If you had had them the odds would have went from me winning easily even while fighting you on hilly terrain to a possible win for you. This would have meant either using both of them to destroy my things in the north (which would have allowed you to burn another ~4 of my tiles at least), or sending them both south to fight my armies. You might not have won the battle, but you would have had a much better chance.
Also, if you had built a longboat instead of a barge, you could have gotten your swordsman (alone) over to my capital by turn 21. You might have lost that battle, but it you had won then I would be out of the game.

I can auto you if you'd like to drop out? As ever I prefer it when people go down fighting, but I understand where you're coming from.
Ehh, he pretty much did stick around till he was out completely. He hasn't had a real chance of victory for like 5 turns, but he still stuck it out till now regardless.

Spoiler: 841 AD (click to show/hide)

The Northumbrians continue to crumble, assaulted on all fronts and Narsis on the Isle of Man invaded, while the Picts threaten more settlements and build up their seige of Irontown. The Welsh begin raiding Wessex lands after so many years building their strength, burning villages and marching on Sane's Outpost. Egbert and his weary men rush back west to deal with the threat. The Mercians try to deal with the last of the Wessex raiders, but they escape their grasp.

Unless someone pulls out an absolutely stunning play, I expect Ireland, Wessex and Wales to be the winners.

Welsh I dont understand why you are marching on me .... I thought we had a deal :C

The only deal we ever made was to take 17,35 and 18, 34 off of your hands.  At the current time, I have no effective places to place another city.  The lands west of Winchester looked like a good place to build one, while, at the same time, provide a nice land connection between my territories.

E: Craaaap. I just noticed I built a master blacksmith instead of a cavern mine in Irada on turn 27. Is there an chance at all that you would be willing to change it to a cavern mine?

This is getting utterly ridiculous.

Why am I going last every single goddamn turn?

A lot can change in 20 turns. I wouldn't be that surprised if you managed to squeak out a win. Not that it would be easy, but it is certainly possible. And depending on how aggressive Wales is Wessex might lose too. Similarly, if you attack me aggressively enough, then I will probably lose (not that you could win that way).

Looking at the victory conditions, Mercia got kind of shafted. All the other players have "survive" or have variable victory condition that allows them to win just by wiping out one player (notably Ireland). Mercia has to wipe out at least two players, and both of them in opposite directions. Their other victory condition (defeating Wales, Pictland and Ireland) is functionally impossible unless every single thing goes perfectly.

Eh, at this point, with Northumbria gone, all I have to do is beat down Wessex. Unfortunately, Pictland is pulling some horse run-about bullshit, which is annoying and doesn't actually really do anything beyond piss me off, but it does certainly do that.
