Yeti Ambush
« on: July 10, 2014, 10:53:06 pm »

So, I start a new character as a dwarven adventurer and somehow find my way out of the mounatinhomes in under ten minutes. I walk ten or so travel tiles down, get ambushed by a human spearman, kill him, and go back into travel mode. But as soon as I go one tile, I get ambushed again. I look up and down, when I see a white Y (you can see the dead human in the picture). It looks like a yeti, but this is the middle of the forest! Sure enough, it turns out to be one -- a Yeti Recruit, with no gear whatsoever. Is this some sort of Yeti initiation rite, coming down from the mountains to ambush travelers?

EDIT: The Yeti is walking right by my, albeit very slowly. It isn't hostile, either.
EDIT2: I take another Travel step, another Yeti recruit appears, standing in a tree...
EDIT3: I probably don't even have to say what this edit would be.

Nope. My character was later killed by an arrow in the head, anyways.

The non-aggression is a known bug.

Is creatures being out of their proper biomes a known bug, or Yeties being regarded as soldiers?

I think the soldier part is the bug, because someone met an alligator recruit once.

Reported then, I assume?
