Yay, so many interest! I have to run out to an appointment right now, but I wanted to reply to this first:
oh my god I'm losing all my HP on bad habits ._.
fuck everything
I NEVER use the "negative" buttons for anything. I have bad habits, but I know myself. Negative reinforcement will not motivate me to do anything. It will just eventually motivate me to stop using the site altogether.
Try what I do: put down a *positive* habit that says something like "resisted temptation to X." Click it every time you think you'd like to do that thing, but manage not to. Yes, every single time. I don't care if it's once every five minutes. If it motivates you to not do your bad habit, then you should give yourself a little reward each and every time. And if you mess up and do the bad habit, well, no points for you, but it shouldn't *hurt* you. That will just make you feel worse.
Here's how I do things:
-I make a daily for everything I think I really need to be doing every day, a habit for stuff I want to do as often as possible (but don't *need* to do on a daily basis), and a to-do for something that needs to get done eventually (or I'm about to do right now).
-Anything I'm likely to procrastinate about from anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, or anything I'm going to do no matter what but I really don't feel like it, I mark "easy." Things like "Okay, I need to make breakfast. I'd prefer to play video games for a few more minutes. Hm.... Easy task." And then I go do it, and then I get the points.
-Anything I'm likely to procrastinate about for a day or more, or anything I really don't want to do, gets a Medium rating. When I accomplish this, I deserve bigger numbers on the screen, dammit.
-Anything I'm likely to procrastinate about for several days or more, or anything I'm not likely to actually do without an incentive (washing out the trash can, for example), gets a Hard rating.
This has worked well for me so far. Feel free to share other strategies.
