Apply Creature Variations through Syndromes
« on: July 09, 2014, 03:05:55 pm »

I think this would be the final step to making a complete transformation and partial transformation system, or at least a much more flexible Token adding/Subtracting system. The possibilities for such a system are nearly endless, even if it doesn't include Body tokens.

That sounds nice. But what would it do besides make token-adding interactions easier to read, and require another file??

Allow you to add or subtract attacks for one, as well as materials for those attacks, change the materials of the creature, add or subtract any token you wanted, or even make syndromes contagious by changing the properties of the creature's materials.

Since gaits are applied as creature variations, you could affect movement at a fairly granular level.  Give one target the ability to swim quickly, reduce another to a snail's pace while walking, etc.

However, the tags available to syndromes in 34.11 were a set of hardcoded on/off affairs.  The way creatures were stored didn't seem to allow tacking on arbitrary tags.  Such a change could seriously inflate the size of save files and cause a bit hit to FPS.

Moore's Law being a thing, it's certainly feasible down the road, but not while it's hard to get a good sized fort running at 50fps.
