A Genuine Thank You
« on: July 09, 2014, 02:56:23 pm »

Thank you Tarn and Zach for this latest update and for Dwarf Fortress in general.  It's truly an amazing and awe inspiring feat and have given me a kick in the butt to learn programming(albeit slowly, and with python :P).  This latest update has seen a fair bit of criticism, but looking at the forest for the trees(pun intended) what we'll be able to do in the future seems boundless.  The placeholder texts do leave a bit to be desired(It was inevitable), but they are just that, placeholders, and the framework for the fantasy world simulator is really taking shape.  Thank you guys again, and I look forward to the first of the bugfixes!

I haven't done anything at all other than a little messing around in arena mode, but I think climbing and the combat changes are a lot of fun.

I'm having a great time, in spite of the bugs! I genuinely can't remember the last time I had this much fun playing a game.

I'm really looking forward to future releases/updates, from what I've seen of this one so far the potential going forward is staggering.

I just finished attacking a bandit camp using all the new features : sneaking, climbing, tracking, with only my character, a archer. I would put it into the great moments I had in gaming. And it was completely procedural! No one designed this bandit camp the way I found it. So, thanks Adam brothers!

Yes. This. I thank you deeply Toady, this has been awesome beyond words. DF is far and away my favorite game, and it's getting even better all the time.

On a moderately popular gaming site that I frequent, a thread appeared in January asking for people's most anticipated games of 2014. The only one I put on there was Dwarf Fortress, and now thanks to your hard work, I have it.

So a heartfelt thankyou from me for making a game that's unique in every way that matters.

In a fat-fingered moment while setting up another military squad I accidentally created a captain of the guard rather than a militia captain.  His squad of near-legendary hammerdwarves equipped with high quality silver hammers then took it upon themselves to dispense justice to all the mandate breakers in the fortress.  It was quite messy.
