I got that much. I was wondering about the other vision colors or the things that affect your likeliness of being seen. Or even just exploits someone's found

The problem is that stealth and the AI of the people around is a bit bugged, there are many way in which you can sneak into a bandit camp, avoid the cones and stab people in their back , and none of them will ever care.
Some will not even panic or try to fight back and just let you strike multiple times.

It's been reported on the bug tracker :

Yeah, its actually a bit comical since you can basically molest somebody and choke them to death, but as long as your succesfully sneaking, they won't notice unless you cause them pain.
I don't think anybody in DF has the sense of touch.

Considering hardly anything attacks on sight, it seems a little pointless to sneak around at the moment.

It seems straightforward enough, but there isn't a chance to fail, which makes understanding how it should work a little difficult.

No, no. What you meant is that no one in DF feels compassion.

Seeing that people usually react to deaths with "It was inevitable"? Yes, yes they don't.

Well, if you want to do sneak attacks, attacking in the fog at night is a really, really amazing way to not once get seen. My last adventurer launched a single-handed assault on a Goblin Fortress on a foggy glacier as night fell and managed to decapitate something like twenty-three goblins on the top of the same tower without being spotted once. For a lot of goblins, the last thing they saw - if anything - was a stubby bearded silhouette flying out of the chill mist, sword swinging.

Same goes for inside underground dwarf sites. No light sources means perfect darkness means nobody will ever spot you. I hope some kind of light-generating system get implemented soon to fix that - that or dwarves get genuine Beardvision so as to navigate in pitch blackness below the earth.

Generally, when one is conducting an experiment, it is worth noting that the observers went insane, killed each other, and then rose from the dead.

I just snuck up behind a chieftess and took possession of her spear, shield, and armor and took her down, while none of the other people in the camp noticed. I had to pull off her armor because it takes forever to kill someone in this version if you don't have good skills.

*Okay so now I am overhearing them talk about how I just killed their chieftess and they must get revenge. They are also narrating me stabbing one of them from behind as I'm doing it, but not reacting in any other way.

It was inevitable. Also this is in full sunlight.

Wouldn't that...y'know, alert them that something's up? :P

This is hilarious. I've done this too.
Sneaking's a little ridiculous at present, it seems. xD
