[Move Silently//Spot: 5+9//6+4]] Fluffy very nearly, VERY nearly, glances in your direction but after his neck pops he returns his attention to those speaking with him. You manage to sneak up the stairs to the second floor. You see three chests at the far end of the room, as well as a large amount of construction materials. Before you can make any movement towards them you see at least twenty armed and cross looking goblins staring directly at you.

"..."

And not moving.

"..."

They don't appear to be breathing either... at all.

"Hm... Chop off his hand and bring it to me. If they are willing to steal from me they need to learn. Helpful or not I will not allow myself to be insulted thusly. I am, of course, the King."

"Indeed but... haven't you ever heard of people who get more powerful things in place of a chopped off limb? And, if he could steal from you he must either be considerably powerful or considerably sneaky... Not that I doubt your own power, mi'lord."

"His is neither. He is considerably foolish. If he attempts to steal from me again he will be in for a surprise. I have increased security twenty fold since the theft."

Lora licks her lips as she tiptoes towards the chests, eyes darting around the room.

Sommat's off wiv' those hobbies, but what?

Conditional: If the hobgoblins or anyone else take notice of me, prepare to prevaricate.

Additionally: This tower-like structure... it's a bit wonky but it's still a tower. I know towers. Do I see any escape routes or architectural weakpoints?

The goblins don't seem to be moving at all... You were attempting to divine why that might be until one of them slid down the wall onto their back without actually moving their body in any perceivable way. It was right about then that you noticed the stick sticking through the back of their clothes. In fact, each and every goblin had a stick sticking through the back of their clothing which rested, or was impaled into, the floor.

Lora continues to sneak towards the chests, snorting silently at the macabre scarecrows. Or would that be scarethieves?

[K:A&E: 20+2] Well, you're not quite an old hand at architechture but the gaping hole on the east side tends to indicate that you could easily hop out onto the nearby tree which is, in fact, partially in the room with you. Even if that weren't the case you could likely push hard enough on any section of the wall to have it fall... or maybe that would destroy the entire structure. At any rate you're near the chests now. There is a chest to your left, directly in front of you, and one to your right. Each roughly ten feet away.

Lora carefully approaches the leftmost chest and checks it for traps.

"If he could steal something from a king as powerful as you, he could very much have other powerful and dangerous items."

"Of course he's powerful. Only a powerful thief could steal from me. But I have, as I said, increased security twenty fold. He won't succeed again. Especially not with only one hand."

Lora carefully approaches the leftmost chest and checks it for traps.

[Search: 18+7] The leftmost chest is apparently trap free.

Inside the chest is a small, mostly empty, bag with 20 gold coins inside, a slightly rusty dagger, and a note. Upon reading the note:

Note to Self:
   Add Traps.

Take the coins and close the chest, move on to the middle chest and check it for traps. If it's clean, open it.
