Anthony peers out of cover, seeing nothing but Chance moving hastily back towards the temple. (9+4+3) A humanoid silhouette seems to be following her on the rooftops, though she herself is unaware of it.
Ketsuki continues, praying to remain unnoticed. The ground underfoot actually seems to grow slightly softer, though it could well be her imagination (9+2+?) for a hiss comes from overhead, and a foul creature (as Fia saw earlier) peers over the roof ledge, its head tilted slightly to one side as if listening for sounds down below. From back up the street, however, Chance can be seen, with another creature in pursuit over the rooftops.
(12+2) Fia tries to crouch down quietly, kneeling with only the faintest rustle of cloth. However, that seems to be enough, as the creature starts edging closer. Gunnar remains so still he might have been dead. The Mira hastily scrawls in the dust a rune, (7+5) and the creature stops - but it looks like it could recover any moment. From high in the barrier another head pops out of the hole.

Ketsuki froze, remaining still as the stone she worshipped.

Fia just sit there, doing her best not to move or make any noise.

Ketsuki freezes, trying to hold as still as she can (8+2). Clearly it is not still enough. The creature drops down in front of her, distorted hands reaching out to grasp her. It also blocks the passage of Chance, whose pursuer also drops down behind her. The temple can be seen a few hundred metres away, and a handful more silhouettes can be seen entering it.
(14+2) The creature recovers from its confusion and continues its search, grasping Fia’s shoulder. Gunnar looks to her for guidance.
Anthony meanwhile, witnesses the creatures dropping down by Ketsuki and Chance, though he himself seems to have gone unnoticed.

"Definitely foes. Back to back."

Chance turns to face her pursuer and punches it in the diaphragm, or where it should be. If the stun is successful, she follows through with a knee to the face and a pinning tackle. If yet successful, she draws her dagger and presses it against the creature's throat to threaten.

Edit: ((GiglameshDespair, remember Ketsuki's ability 'Protector of the Saint', which could be used to protect Chance. Similarly, Varee should use Fia's 'Calming eye' to stop the creature from attacking.))

((I didn't forget, don't worry.))

Ketsuki did not reply, but stood back to back with Chance. She began to chant her battle prayer (no effect, just flavour). Her eye never left those of the approaching monster.

"The mountain endures.
The storm breaks against the mountain.
The sea surges futilely.
The fire burns out.
I am the mountain.
I endure.
The mountain endures..."

If the creature lunges for Ketsuki, sharply slash at the inside of it's wrists to disable it's arms, then decapitate it. Otherwise protect Chance.

Anthony starts to sneak down the street, when the creatures flanking Ketsuki and Chance suddenly jump back as Ketsuki speaks. The one opposite Ketsuki chitters excitedly, before leaning forward and appearing to sniff at the warrior.
’You are in the mountain’s shadow now. He would be most interested to meet you.’
The creature speaks as if it is unfamiliar with the tongue, and its voice is thin and high pitched. Nonetheless, the words are unmistakable.
Fia pulls away from the creature but its grip remains firm. Upon hearing her question its mouth splits open into a grin - deeply unsettling between the skin covered eyes and the pointed teeth.
 ’Come. You will see.’

Ketsuki regarded the odd creature for a moment, before pushing her sword back into her sheath as a sign of peace. Her axe remained in her hand.
...Very well then. I warn you, any treachery will go poorly for you."
She motioned, indicating she was willing to follow the creature. She spoke softly to Chance.
"These creatures no doubt know the tunnels better than us. They could speed our journey... or hinder it. Either way, I doubt they'll just let us go."
