”How much? Why, you must be new here. See, the elders at Khion reckon that a live traveler is far more likely to spend than a dead one, and more than the cost of a meal besides. Hence they fund the nearby respites, like my little establishments here. The mountains can be treacherous in all weathers, and a free meal keeps your like on their toes rather than dragging them.”
The dwarf pauses, pulling a serrated blade from where it lay lodged in the ice. He presses the blade to the nearest carcass, slicing down through the meat to leave a generous steak in his free hand. He returns the blade, before shooing the farmer back from the door, and dropping the steak on the counter.
“Now, just in case you didn't twig, that mean you’re getting your food free. So be good and check whether your friends want goat themselves.” He nods at the fireplace, before fumbling around under the counter for a piece of chalk.

"Free meals? Sweet!"

Spooner turns to look back at his friends over by the fire.

"Hey, there's free food over here! Fancy that! You people want some free goat?"

Thank the elements for government subsidized traveler housing. Get my free goat! Share with the others if they want some.

Not just mountains, but mountain goat as well? The gods truly are smiling upon Yozod today.

"Free? Grab me a head then. It's been far too long since I've eaten any goats."

"I'd like a small bit please. And it may sound odd but could you frost a small chunk of it as well?"

"You want to eat it cold? You'd think we'd need all the warmth we can have in this weather."

"No, just a small hunk of what I'm going to eat cold. The rest can be warm."

The mage turns to Fia. ”You mean mutton so -”
A crack echoes around the room, seemingly coming from somewhere outside, and the building shakes slightly. He glances around, before looking towards the window, muttering into his beard.
 ”The hell?”

"...Sounded like it came from outside?"

Look out a window.

Ketsuki seemingly ignored the crack, though her hands crept down towards her weapons.

"Cut me some mutton, mage, if you would.

I am Ketsuki the Swordswoman, and I am looking for a healer named Sarrina Thulni, an elf of some minor fame. Have you heard of her recently?"

Kyle shakes his head.
"Only healers I've heard about are frosteaters."

"Frosteaters... we stayed with them a while, once. They exchanged knowledge with her."

Looking outside, Chance sees the silhouette of a figure, tall enough to be an ogre, striding through the snow towards the cabin. It appears to be wearing armour, and over its shoulder protrude a number of long objects. It raises its arm, as if to throw something in its hand, and a moment later the glass shatters, narrowly avoiding Chance herself.
She spins round as a knock sounds against the wall besides her, seeing a small brown pouch on the floor. From one end dangles a charred thread, and where this joins the pouch itself a flame vanishes inside. Another knock is drowned out by the pouch itself, as the air fills with a blinding flash and accompanying bang. A third knock is accompanied by a crunch, and the wall behind her sags.
The figure looms in the smoke besides the splintered counter, features indistinct. Various debris surrounds it, the remnants of the wall behind it. As you and the other patrons stir, the door bangs open, and footsteps can be heard from its location.
