((Did that count as crafting an item?))
Sophie needed a better improvised weapon; this one would take a lot of hacking and slashing to kill someone. That was not her style.
Find a piece of metal I can file into a makeshift stiletto, assuming the grubs didn't eat the file.
[5+1+2/9 = ~5] You forge only the finest blade in the cosmos since the smiths of Terra had long abandoned their work.
New Item: Excelsior (A sharp dagger with weight balance perfectly suited to all sorts of tricks and strikes. +2 masterwork bonus)
New Trait: Legendary MacGyvering (+3 to crafting items without proper tools, no penalty for lacking tools to repair)See if I can move to Cargo Container F11 and retrieve the batteries myself, or find the nearest other crew member and ask for the batteries.
You convince the other crew to help you bring up the crate of batteries from the cargo hold. In doing this, you discover that the cargo hold is in fact not pressurized, and that there are five spacesuits in the airlock leading to it. Good to know in case something goes wrong. The airlock is large enough to accommodate a single container, which contains all the batteries you'd ever need for your power tools... until you start building new ones.
As the crew prepares for a few months of cryo sleep, the ship's sensors begin to take astronomical measurements of the other celestial bodies in the system. The computer gets to work calculating orbital periods, distances, and masses, using whatever information it can get in order to ensure an accurate map of the system.
The results are as follows:
-[5-Check!] The ship's scanner detects an anomaly inside the same gravity well! It doesn't seem to have a pull of its own, but it is orbiting fairly close and the Anaxagoras could rendezvous with it quite soon. The wormhole itself is surrounded by a debris field, containing no active components.
-The minor gas giant
Wallonia is currently orbiting dangerously close to Antilla 48. Visiting it might be very dangerous as an increase in solar activity can and will wipe out your ship. However, the planet has Saturn-like gravity and is a good candidate for refueling due to its atmosphere's low density.
-The planet
Pacifica would be a great candidate for an Earth-like world if it weren't so far from the system's sun. Its gravity is Earth-like. It has two decently sized moons.
-The planet
Rhodes is about Mars-sized with a small gravity well. Its visual signature is reddish, which may indicate a dense atmosophere.
The
Atmospheric Readings of the moons turned up no positive indicators for life. Ares I has hydrocarbons, though.
The
Visual Readings of Ares II turned up several craters that are extremely narrow and deep. Ares III has several rectangular structures on its surface in one spot. Ares IV has what seems to be a probe landed on the surface transmitting encrypted messages.
Current Location: Ares IV (desynchronized with moon)
When taking off, the Oberth Effect can give you free deltaV due to using your fuel deep in the gravity well
