((I'm not accusing anyone of metagaming just yet. But just keep an eye out in the future ^^))
Roll 13 - Succession Crisis?
Yes. Try to 3D print a seax, as well.
[3] The machine hums, and you hear the fluid being drawn from the vial of DNA you inserted. However, nothing of actual note happens to the region encased inside the Inserter's sealed glass chamber. It seems slightly foggier than before.
The 3d printer is hooked up to a computer, which loads some rather familiar software when booted up... [1] There are no weapons, guns, knives, or otherwise, currently loaded. [3 + 1W/7 = ~3] However, the virtual sculpting software lets you easily model a dagger of sorts. You send the data to the printer, which creates a flimsy, but serviceable seax with a decent edge.
"Interesting... how in the world would I get around, though? ...hmm..."
Head around to the lab.
In the lab, you find a depressing lack of medicinal research and an overabundance of genetic engineering and 3d printing tools. This should be rectified immediately.
There are also tools for analyzing samples of rock, gas, and native life.
Wonder where my grabber went. Go exercise, even if it means simply jogging around the ring or bouncing from wall to wall.
[1] Nope, you don't notice the grabber is missing.
[3] Since there is gravity, you can easily walk and jog. However, the large number of doors--big, heavy hatches, no less--is frustrating as you have to constantly stop or hop over the threshold to continue. Regardless, you verify that you are still fit after a long cryosleep. Only when you are utterly exhausted do you stumble upon a workout area in the Manufacturing Section's housing area. Here there are various exercise stations, including treadmills. Finding this earlier would have saved you a bit of a hassle.
((do you guys wanna go back to sleep yet? or are you still exploring?))
R:-"So how you guys doing? Anything abnormal on your round tour around the ship? I heard something about water leak?"
Vex say then go look for his room and anybelonging he may have on board.
Vex ask for direction to the site of leak.
[4 + 1D/7 = ~4] After hearing some commotion over the comms, you discover that one of the crew--your crew? You're not sure if the crew sees you as a leader yet--has become injured as a result of falling through the floor. Apparently a water leak had rusted the bearings of the floor panels in a certain area, leaving it structurally compromised. This must be fixed. With some questioning, you determine the location of the leak and make your way there.
It seems there is a large break in the floor where one of the rectangular floor panels used to be affixed. Below you is a huge pool of water--deeper at the edges of the hall segment due to centrifugal force naturally forcing it that way. The water seems to have come from a single, tiny leak from a pipe in the ceiling, which happens to be spraying a small amount of water. The entire immediate area is rusted.
((My character doesn't have reason to be terribly involved in the decision making at the moment. She's along for the ride till we meet other people.))
Stash grabber with other loot on my way to the recently reported leak.
[3] Hearing the commotion about a maintenance problem makes you feel slightly guilty about storing the grabber away, but... but...
it's yours now.
You yawn and look for other things to do. It seems like it's about time for another drink!
"Okay, I fell down a grate. Also, yeah, there's a water leak above me in the pipes. Nothing too much that needs fixing, but I'll get around to it once I'm patched up."
Wait for first aid/look for available first aid, and then find something I can use to retrieve my toolkit.
((Sorry for my lateness! Been busy with some work.))
Your arm is patched up now.
[3] You look around the rooms nearby. There is a laboratory section with genetic engineering tools and a 3d printer, and there is also a manufacturing section with a full-fledged metal shop. Inside the shop you find plenty of sheet metal and rod stock--the latter being perfect for grabbing the toolkit with, if only there was a hook on the end...
[5 + 2D/8 = ~5] Taking a look at the tools available, you identify some things that might help you: a manual brake, some smithing tools, an induction forge, arc welding equipment, and some metal band saws.
