Shiiet. The NPC fortresses are lavcraftian. I don't mean hordes of monsters in it, I mean architecture.

The moment trees give me 40+ logs for EACH. SINGLE. TREE is the moment I'm turning my dwarfs into full fledged dwelves.

Strike the Earth? Nope.

Think I found the reason the flood of demons triggered as soon as I reclaimed the fort. The fortress just so happened to gen so that the magma forges juuust barely intersected the tube to hell. There's a wall in the way. That wall is 2 tiles of "unknown substance" wall. The demons all poofed into existence in the magma forges instead.

I don't know whether I should report this as a bug or call it a feature. Might make a thread about the whole fortress later.

I dug a ramp down into some silt loam and *boom* a clowd of stuff (looking like a cavein) emerged, after that there is the strange feature NE of the ramp.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I guess we have new cavein mechanics!

Edit: Oops, those are Cherry Tree Roots! Fancy that...

I don't care. I have discovered that if you spawn elves this way, cats will chase them down and eat them.

Could not be happier to see another update. I await with some trepidation the weaponisation of trees ^_^

I love the new combat reports. Apparently a mosquito man just ran into a tree and exploded in a cloud of gore. Not surprising.

What is surprising was a message that popped up. three of my dwarves were horrified at the gruesome death of the mosquito man, which interrupted their work.

the new combat report also indicates to me that pulping is working as the mosquito man was pounded into an unrecognizable mass.

lastly, when I looked at the corpse, it read "mosquito man's mangled corpse". I think this is a new description for bodies that have been pulped.

I think mangled corpses used to be any that were missing a body part, so that's not new I don't think.

Hmm, has anyone had a dwarf get a pulped body part?  Is such a thing beyond healing?

Got myself into the middle of a bandit raid of some sort. From what I can see, the lord is telling me to go out there and kill every single goblin out on the street and bring me the leader's head. No problem. Then.. I see this....

Killed and eaten on the spot.

no that's mutilated corpse.

also is it just me or is drinking a lot faster now? dwarves seem no time drinking at all. I saw a woodcutter get thirsty and a few seconds later he's not thirsty anymore.
Then I checked my stocks and saw that a drink had vanished.

EDIT: also it seems that getting scared shitless trains discipline.

The fact that the old tree symbol no longer means trees is really screw with my head. I keep thinking random trees sprouted out from nowhere.

Well, it seems that building a wooden wall for an above-ground fort now got much easier than building a stone one, which is pretty logical.
The bug when the dwarf stands on the same tile where he builds the wall is still there, IT SEEMS... or maybe one dwarf just tried building a wall section while another dwarf was standing there, I don't know. I got wall construction suspended a few times, anyway. (didn't try finishing them without re-designation).
Started on an edge between 2 biomes, a neutral and a terrifying one. Just got through the first season, and not much is going on yet... some zombie skunk-men are hanging out at the edge of the map, standing still...

PS: A little not on Adventure Mode: started as an elven adventurer... a night monster I was sent to slay turned out to be friendly. He-he.

Discovered all parts of fallen npc fortress, found no signs of beast that ended it. Seems like it's hiding somewhere much like berserkers did in previous version awaiting to be woken by hapless civilian.
