Hi i have been playing dwarf fortress since 2011 and haven't made an profile on the forum so with the release nigh i decided i should make a profile so i did and am now pressing f5 on the Dwarf fortress page. i don't usually make forum accounts but i made an exception for bay 12 so greet me now >:(

The same thing it does on every site: it refreshes the page, loading in any new updates that have been posted since you first opened it.

Welcome too.. I created one on Sunday but I am so green at this game im still trying to organize my jobs lol. Wish other then WIKI page they would have developed a tutorial real basic into the game but still WIKI better then nothing.

Toady said recently that he tried to make a tutorial but didn't want to teach players the convoluted control system as it is now - so the in-game tutorial would probably come after a UI overhaul.

Someone started creating a play along tutorial on the forums. I think they ended up stopping but it does cover some of the very basics. If you are really new and really need basics it might be helpful. Since it isn't a video tutorial how long it takes is really more on how quickly you go through it.
