Chapter 9: Creepy Gas Station Adventures

The day begins shifting to dusk...

Scout around the bar we're using as a base for any other gang related activity.

Freedom returns the Taxi Cab to the company lot and heads back to the Pub under the glare of the dying sun. He comes to the area and looks around for anything to indicate the activities of other gangs. As he looks around the immediate area, half-wandering half-scouting, he witnesses what looks like an impromptu fight going on the sidewalk. A single figure is attempting to fight off multiple attackers; after a few blows of scuffling are traded, one of the attackers jams something through the lone guy's torso. He falls over and the attackers scatter. The victim still looks like he's moving, barely.

Dave sends a text to the gang notifying them of the presence of the dealer after the woman is on her way. He parks the car in the garage, ensures it's fairly secure (locked and such), meets up with his backup, and goes to look over the gas station. If there isn't anything that could be a mark of claim by a rival gang, he checks to see if there's an unlocked door/entry, and if there is he enters carefully, posing as a buyer if questioned. He stays ready to run/fight,though. If there is a claim mark, text the gang to see if they see the mark anywhere else.
Right, good luck with that mate

If Dave says he'd like a little backup while checking out the crack den then

go join Dave as he scouts out the gas station

If not then

Stealthily scout out / patrol our new turf in search of anything interesting or troublesome

Dave parks the White Sedan in the nearby garage, making sure that its locked up before signaling a footsoldier, (the other 2 currently busy with backing up Eloni) to join him at the gas station across the street. On the way, Trent joins the group as well and they roll up to the gas station as a trio. The place seems desolate and dilapidated overall, the paint has all peeled and any sort of sign or symbol that would indicate what company ran the station is nowhere to be seen. In fact, the only evidence that this was a gas station at one point are the gas pumps, the ones that haven't been removed. The interior, which the group cautiously approaches, is stripped down to nothing besides rows of cheap metal plastic shelves and a counterplace. On the side of the wall is an intricate green skull, smoke pouring out of its eye-sockets and teeth.

Tom asks if any of the footsoldiers know a gun dealer, or anyone else who could be useful.

Marshall is out to acquire some heat, and locates the nearest footsoldier to ask for a gun dealer, or at least anyone that could help the Syndicate out. When he comes to the Pub, he finds that the place is empty. Up the road, he sees the footsoldiers, along with Trent and Dave, head into an empty gas station.

"Well, we couldn't be having that, could we? Hard on crime? Depending on how hard 'e goes, we could be in for a lot o' trouble. Think we could pull off something to ruin 'im?"

"Arnio? You don't want to talk shit about him in public, any of these people could be a supporter. I don't know any real dirt on him, but in this business I learned that no one is really as clean as they want to seem. Except nuns maybe. Me, personally? I'm staying on the down low. I'm not doing anything wrong, technically. Maybe your people are better at accomplishing that sort of stuff, getting political candidates out of the way. You guys aren't terrorists are you? Because that's not something I'd want to get involved with. You seem rad though, so please, don't murder me for you political revolutionary agenda."

Go visit said prisoner, if asked say I'm reviewing his case. Also get his case file.

After hearing about an ex-military possible recruiter locked up in prison, Preston takes a cab to the New Mexico State Prison, since like many high-security prisons it is located beyond normal city limits, in fact, this particular prison isn't even in Albuquerque; instead it's in Los Lunas, a village of about 14,000 people 27 miles south of Albuquerque. ($-30) On the walk between the taxi drop-off stop and the prison entryway, Preston gets on his phone and finds a public copy of the recruit's case file:
Oman Ebbs, age 20, joined the Army out of high school, decorated as a private until he was dishonorably discharged for assaulting a superior. When he went back stateside, he was imprisoned for the sale of illicit military-grade weapons and ammunition.
Preston calls out to the guard station behind a opening chain-link gate topped with barbed wire, "Hello, my name is Preston Duellos! I am a lawyer visiting my client Omar Ebbs." The guard hollers back, "Hold on..." A few minutes of silence later, the gate opens. Preston is escorted into a facility next to the actual prison, a visitation room. The room is busy, so Preston had gotten in on a good day to visit, otherwise he may have been turned away. He is sat in front of one of the booths, separated by glass, when Oman joins him on the other side. Oman flicks a finger through his nappy here, "So, they informed me that I got a brand new lawyer all the sudden. What's up?"

Flashing a wide grin, Eloni says as politely as possible.

"Hi. I was just wondering if you had seen anything suspicious happen recently. Me and my friends were are looking to help get situated in the neighborhood."

Eloni puts on his best facade and speaks to the old lady about the possibility of suspicious activity. "Ack, no. No danger. Go away now." Eloni keeps up his grin, continuing to speak to her, (6 vs. 5) when the door opens up and then slams itself with great force, much greater than the old woman could have conjured up. Eloni has to withdraw his foot to prevent it from being smashed between the door and the wall, while inside he hears more Spanish yelling, but this time from multiple people. One very distinctly young male voice yells out, "Fuck off, ese!"

Hey look, kind of on schedule. In between this and the next update, I'm going to be looking at some pictures of Albuquerque to make sure I'm able to form an accurate representation of it. It is America, but I'm even less familiar with Albuquerque and the American Southwest in general than Licheville, England, which I had some basis for, since I've spent most of my time in the Eastern Deep South. So if anyone well acquainted with the Albuquerque, NM, or the Southwest and wants to inform of any important geographic/metropolitan/socioeconomic/cultural/etc. aspects to the area, I'd be to hear.

" Some friends of mine would like you to come work for them once your released and requested that I take a look at your case to see if I can speed things along in that area.

Would you happen to know any other former soldiers in need of a new line of work? "

Try to arrange for early release.

"Psssssh, nah. We're not looking to send any kind of message, just make the city a bit better for us and our business, ya know? Plus, murder isn't exactly my cup o' tea. I was thinking more...rumours, scandals, all that stuff.

Anyway, it was great meeting ya. See you back at the pub sometime soon?"

He stands up, extending a hand for him to shake, before he heads back to the pub himself.

((I believe we know this already, but if we don't, then disregard the conversation if you would, TCM.))

Dave and the others back off a little bit. Lowering his voice, he talks to the others.

"I think it means the 'Aztecas' control this joint. You guys want to come back tomorrow, or say hi now?"

Proceed in with the group, moving carefully (though normally) and ready to fight/run.

Chapter 10: New Friends

" Some friends of mine would like you to come work for them once your released and requested that I take a look at your case to see if I can speed things along in that area.

Would you happen to know any other former soldiers in need of a new line of work? "

Try to arrange for early release.

"Some friends? I can try and get some people together if you can manage to get me out of here." Omar leans back against his chair.

After meeting with the prisoner, Preston goes to speak with the warden in his office about negotiating an early release for the prisoner. "He's had pretty good behavior, but he still has time to serve, after all, selling modified military firearms on the black market is not a light crime. However...if you could think of anything to say, offer us in return for the release of your client..."

Walk up to the man on the ground and see if I can do anything to help.

Freedom walks up to the wounded man and looks over him. He caught a sharp one to the right breast and is bleeding pretty badly. "You just going to look-hnnrgh..." He says, coughing up some blood. Freedom drags him over to a wall nearby to prop him up into a seating position. The man looks at him, "8th. Ave fuckers...they think they can...*cough*...run up on us and do whatever the hell they want. My boys will get him. Shit, hey man, could you get help? I'm too young to die, I haven't even had a threesome."

Dave and the others back off a little bit. Lowering his voice, he talks to the others.

"I think it means the 'Aztecas' control this joint. You guys want to come back tomorrow, or say hi now?"

Proceed in with the group, moving carefully (though normally) and ready to fight/run.
Trent walks up and lowers his voice
"I'm not scared of these Scooby Doo motherfuckers.  I'm ready to rock if you are m8.  You know I got your back."

Watch Dave's back when we walk in, ready to cut a muthfucka if I need to

Dave, Trent and their boys walk into the gas station building, which appears to be empty. Just a bunch of trash and debris scattered around, and the register and anything of value is gone, except for a few boxes in the back. These boxes, when opened up, reveal that they contain several pounds of powdery crack cocaine. It's also at this time that a couple of cars suddenly swerve into the gas station parking lot, parking haphazardly. The Syndicate can see some figures beginning to exit from the cars, moving towards the inside of the store...

Leave. Go back to the group, then go back to base.

Eloni shrugs and abandons the apartment, taking himself and his boys back towards the home base. They get back without incident, and once inside the two of them begin looking around. They begin a conversation, "Yo Eloni man, no offense but this place is kind of shitty. I mean, it doesn't look bad, but it's boring as hell. There ain't even any booze." "Yeah, this place should be popping. I could get some people to come, to get interested and join us, but we got to give them something to do. Get some T.V.s, some weed, video games, fix up the pool table." "And what about a stripper pole? Where the hoes at?"

"You're a lawyer aren't you? Well, one of my nephews ended up getting a DUI not too along ago. Attorneys are expensive, good ones anyway. If you could represent him pro bono and get him off, or at least reduce his sentence, I'll see what I can do about getting your man out."
