I mean, SNL has a lot of misses for the ones that do hit though.

True, but in fairness, there's 968 episodes spread out over nearly 50 years... if they've managed better than 96 hits they've beaten sturgeon's law :V

Reading a bunch of random manga lately,

Flying witch.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Gendai Majo no Shuushoku Jijou. About girlfail, for boyfails, from someone who is evidently neither. Main character makes a lot of funny faces, but Unfortunately manga quickly falls down into gratuitous lechery.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Normalty and Monsters. Central joke was done in two pages.  ::)

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Otherside Picnic. Stalker is also girlified, turns out!  >:( According to the comment section, along with littering bolts all over the place to check for invisible walls of death. If it exists...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Finally finding (barely) watchable youtube playtrough of Pocket Mirror... in ukranian.  :o But that's just my pet peeve.

...something that made me laugh today (actually, yesterday, but who's counting..?) was a TV advert selling gold (in some form or other that I didn't quite pick up on). Apparently it's at a 20-year high in value.

And that means that we should buy gold? Yes, it might well go on to reach a 21-year high and cashing in on that would be worth it, but... no. Someone is failing Basic Economics. (Perhaps just the intended audience. The advert-makers have just earned a distinction in Basic Advertising, or at least the module on how to use weasel words to not-actually-lie but put positive spins on what's wrong.)

I tried to shush some mice out of some spot because I dont want them to die of the poison in the wall... So I nuked it with deodorant body spray. Now I don't only hear them behind the drywall. I felt bad about it. But I can hear them munching them being clumsy with the cupholder of poison. And I swear the smeel of deodorant has gotten more intense agaim. Now it's just incredibly funny to me.

The English word "lechery" is pretty funny to me because it makes me think of the Spanish word "leche" which means milk, which in turn makes me think of other lecherous liquids.

So someone's done a "Woke Content Detector" list, and it's so ridiculous it actually enters into funny.

Too many women? Woke. Vague hint of politics? Woke. Slightest indication of a non-straight relationship? Woke. Anyone who's not white? Woke.

It's a pretty comprehensive list too. The guy's spent who knows how much time and money trawling through so many games to find the slightest hint of anything that isn't straight, white male.

It transcends beyond stupid into the realm of hilarity.

Christ almighty, I’m looking through it.

Hogwarts Legacy: “1800s Scotland somehow has diverse LGBTQ+ characters” but the wizards and magic are perfectly reasonable. I’m surprised they didn’t mention the principal of Hogwarts is a woman as a point against.

RDR2 only has a warning for pro-DEI messaging and a modern day politics, such as a woman acting like a “modern day feminist”.

Evidently the LGBTQ+ community are more of a threat than the non-whites and women. I’m pretty sure there’s a side quest in it that involves gay men, but they don’t mention that…

I can’t read more, goodness me. Some people apparently just don’t want the world to be for anybody but them, apparently, no other stories are allowed.

Edit: found their methodology, they are just right-wing cranks:

Quote
Methodology
“Woke” content = any images, messages, characters, storytelling, dialogue, music, or game mechanics that include themes associated with the left-side of the political aisle in contemporary western politics.

These themes include things like: pro-LGBTQ+ messaging, pro-DEI messaging, pro-climate action messaging, pro-communism/socialism messaging, pro-abortion messaging, pro-pedophilia messaging, pro-immigration messaging, pro-transhumanism messaging, anti-western society messaging, anti-human messaging, anti-colonialism messaging, anti-capitalism messaging, anti-heterosexual messaging, anti-patriarchy messaging, anti-white messaging, anti-family messaging, anti-free speech messaging, anti-gun messaging, etc

Can’t say I know many left-leaning political parties which are pro-pedophilia.

Ah yeah, my suspicion is "paedophilia is something bad. Being LGBTQ+ is bad. QED, being LGBTQ+ is paedophilia, thus anyone supporting LGBTQ+ support paedos."

It all is seen with the whole broad-brush logic chain that might go more or less like: "That man lives with that other man. => He likes all men. => He lusts for all men.=> He lusts for anything male. => He lusts for adolescent boys. => He lusts for prebuscent boys. => He lusts for children in general => He lusts for my dogs. => He probably even wants to go jiggy with my pickup's tailpipe!" (They might or might be thinking about whether this individual is 'safe' with his own wife. And be wrong either way, of course.) Of course, all traces of rationality have gone out of one or more windows by the time of the above, and we're well beyond logic and reality.

The person projecting this might even be projecting their own niggling 'voice in my head' thoughts. Everybody(?) has something like that, if only to act as an internal contrast to their true outward self (to be the 'devil on the shoulder' to be constantly ignored). It goes with the "theory of mind", in that you need to be able imagine thoughts that are not your own.

Or perhaps they are actually the only one really (barely?) battling with such extreme desires. Then of course one is capable of accusing others of that which is true for oneself, as a deflection. (But we've already gone beyond the stage of refuting "it's always the 'obvious' ones", so let us not replace that with "it's always the last people you'd think", instead.)
