Eh, Babylon Bee. Too many parody news sites now. BTW I think it would be better to pick 1-2 of the best ones and quote it rather than spam half a dozen links. I read the first one, didn't find it amusing. IDK, but a lot of parody sites don't seem to have a knack for headlines. They're too obvious / hamfisted.
Consider classic ones from The Onion:
"serial killer remembers neighbors as 'quiet and unsuspecting' "
"Ghost of Christmas Future taunts children with images of Playstation 5". (From 2002 btw)
"1975" Onion in history: "Cambodia to switch to skull-based economy"
"1918" Onion in history: "Corpse-eating rats now largest force in Europe".
All of those have a subtext, but they trust the reader to understand the context. Meanwhile, BabylonBee provides:
BabylonBee: "disney buys rights to the bible - plans 37 sequels"
The problem here is that the joke isn't that funny and it also makes sure to explain the entire joke in the headline. It lacks any subtle twist or tongue in cheek element that relies on the reader to correctly interpret the "spin". When you read an Onion headline, there's some sense of humor and also satisfaction from when you "get" the context/subversions. There's nothing to "get" in this BabylonBee headline.
BabylonBee: "moral relativist slams murder highly undesirable"
This one was funny at first, but even this one misses the boat a little. By saying that a moral relativist would hold murder, a very bad thing as merely "undesirable", e.g. a weaker reaction, the writer fails to understand how moral relativism works. This writer just sees "relativism" as a weaker/looser morality rather than a viewpoint that's external to morality. A cleverer version would have had the moral relativism hold that murder is "suboptimal" then having other moral relativists arguing that optimality is also relative.
Even the byline of Babylon Bee is "Your Trusted Source For Christian News Satire". Yet again, going out of their way to explain what the joke is. Stick with Landover Baptists.
The Onion Movie review videos are pretty awesome btw. Rogue One review. Contains zero actual information about Rogue One though if your worried about spoilers.
