This reminds me of zoo tycoon.
I learned that you can trap the patrons in the zoo by removing the exits, then you can release animals in with the humans because the game reats closed off areas like pens.  lots of fun lion enrichment was had!

I remember 'retiring' old animals in Zoo Tycoon 2 by throwing them in with the tigers. That, or throwing them into the shark volcano (there was a map in one of the expansions with a dormant volcano.)

Stronghold Crusader also allowed for "Lion Enrichment Activities" Although I usually crashed the game by spawning too many lions.
