It's a touch morbid.

In saying that, there is a book I have read partway through which is basically taking the piss out of the decision to kill yourself, which I found to be hugely funny, specifically because of it looking at various religious beliefs and why believing in them would be an issue. For example, the number of things you could come back as if you believed in reincarnation, the very last thing of which was... yourself.

Horrible execution. You want a long fall, to snap the neck - what she did was a short fall, leading to a fairly long-winded and cruel demise. This type of hanging used to be reserved for the worse kind of criminal for a reason.

Which? I wants to read it :v

Reincarnationist religions take special care in regards to suicide because otherwise it would encourage everyone to do it. Buddhism and hinduism have karma, and suicide is reeeeeealy bad for your karma, and will only result in way more suffering. Spiritism takes a similar approach in saying that life is kinda like a bitter medicine: its kinda terrible most of the time but there's a reason to why you have to deal with it and doing away with it will only prolongue your suffering.

Also ye, despite being popular, hanging (or any sort of death by asphyxia) is one of the most hellish ways you can die. You'll suffer a shitton before you actualy pass out, plus you'll leave a pretty crappy looking corpse behind (bulging eyes, slightly open mouth with the tongue sticking out and that shitty blue colour everywhere). If you wanna die, at least die with style >:v

If I'm killing myself I'd probably try for something like driving a plane strapped with dynamites into a volcano.

Overkill.

I guess it's better than trying and failing though.

I had a debate like that with a friend a while back: Is 'Going to war because of a death wish induced by unhappy or failed romance' a trope, or am I just imagining that?
