Actually Holyrood is the Scottish parliament, the Scottish elections are coming up soon.

The SNP has managed to hold a majority in the Scottish parliament for two consecutive terms despite the Scottish electoral system being designed expressly to prevent any one party holding a majority, and it's looking very likely that they'll hold that majority for the next term as well.

Ruth Davidson, leader of the Scottish branch of the Conservative party has been trying to talk up her party as the new party of opposition in Scotland after Scot Labour imploded. Given the general quality of her rhetoric and criticisms of the SNP though it's not really a concern to any SNP supporters.

I probably got sent a letter because I'm in the demographic group that's going to be voting in Scottish elections for the first time this year. At the same time it's a demographic highly predisposed to hating the Conservatives, which makes the fact I got sent a letter by them really fucking hilarious to me. It's a bit like if Trump were to send a letter to a left wing activist asking for their vote in the US election.

My wife came home from work today with a very large fish that a local fisherman gave her for free. The reason for such benevolence was that the fish in question is an invasive bottom feeder from asia, with a head like a helmet and scales like llamellar armor, that nobody likes to eat around here. Yes, you guessed it: a 10 lb asian carp. Which, amazingly, was still alive.

It's worth far more than its weight in gold (the original value). If this isn't art, it's because the guy went beyond representing the absurdities of society and created one.

Actually, I've seen one of those cans on exhibition. It's actually one of my favorite modern art.

I mean, maybe I'm overanalyzing things, but it's hilariously meta. The artist is proving a point that idiots will actually exhibit his literal crap if he was artsy enough about it. It addresses the issue of artist worship in the modern art scene today.
