I stumbled blindly into /r/onetruegod today.
The Cage also gazes into you.

(also there are probably a lot of people on the internet pissed that that name got taken, by THAT no less)

You misspelled seance.  Are possessing Draignean?  Are you actually a ghost in the shell? You have to tell us if you are, that's the rule

Mr. Conceptart Conceptart

He's exploded on FB since yesterday it seems, and rightfully so. It might not be too funny for you folks but he's doing a rather awesome satire of a good chunk of the industry now. Right down to overuse of photobashing, chromatic abberation and boxheaded exosuit soldiers. It's freaking glorious, and best of all, he's actually gotten me thinking about some of my approaches to designing gruff soldier dudes.

On the same subject, it is really hard to get a straight answer on what photobashing is.

In short, it's piecing together photos and then tracing them so they make one cohesive piece. I can recognize it now that I see the symptoms. It seems handy for when you're starting out or you need to make concept art on a deadline, but I can see why people dislike it.

Photobashing is a technique like any other tbh, no different than say traditional collage for the most part. What some people seem to be getting pissy about is one of two things. It's either the "It's new and therefore it sucks/isn't art/something else" which is a bullshit argument beacuse everything was new at one point, just beacuse a medium doesn't have the same age as another doesn't mean it isn't a valid medium. Or it's the "It requires no skill and cheapens the whole art world because anyone can do it" which is also bullshit because it does take skill and knowledge in order to make it work, just like any other medium, the only difference is that in this case it's much easier to trick a layperson into not seeing the faults so to speak. It's also bad in a number of ways if you're a beginner because it tends to shoehorn your designs and limit your options severly, as well as looking awful if not integrated into the image properly, which is why you never see folks just bash stuff together without painting heavily over it afterwards.

I really want that one as a "when". I want "grubs", and "virgin woman" to turn into a dragon. and monkey children to suddenly sprout wings. And I want the Dwarven Mutant Academy to only gain their powers upon reaching puberty. I also have a whole host of odd creatures that only make sense if I divide them into children and adults.

Also, tadpoles.

Are you trying to impose your cultural knowledge on us?

Because I'm perfectly fine with watching my Chinese cartoons, thank you very much.
