You could argue anything if you want to.

I know a few distinct and distinctly awesome hip-hop artists. And *Gasp* they sound different!!

Oi. No shit it's subjective, when someone is speaking about music it's generally considered an opinion. Now don't start fights here.

Besides, they're both very, very diverse genres. except rap is shit on toast

white music

What, pray tell, is that?

Though there is quite a bit of diversity in rap. The most mainstream artists do sound very similar, I won't deny, but then you've also got people like this, who stretch the genre and experiment with it (partly by being deliberately obtuse, but you can't deny he's original) or classic artists like this who a lot of people are familiar with at least on some level, but were largely supplanted by people like this and more recently this.

I won't go looking for it, but I do enjoy some rap. There's a lot of junk getting pushed out, especially now that the genre's enjoying a bit more widespread popularity, but there are still some gems out there.

An instrumental?
You can't really use it in the same way you would use the word 'song' though, and even if you could it doesn't cover cases where there are vocal elements but singing is not heavily focused on enough to really qualify it to be a song.

Also arguing over which music is best is a waste of time. The right will never be able to convert the wrong so why bother?

I just listen to music.
If I like it, it goes on my list. If I don't, it doesn't.
I don't care about when, how or with what it was made.

However, I do like Owl City a bit more than other music~
+1ish I guess
I do listen to pretty diverse music, just seems I like older stuff more so ya.....

* Tawarochir listens to glam metal and game sound tracks, all day, every day

When people try to get me to listen to terrible modern mainstream music, I poison them so badly that they're deaf as a leopard. There's a song from nowadays every now and again that I like, I just don't go out of my way to find them because I already have all the music I want.

No music genre argument, no matter how nostalgia-goggled, subjective, and stupid, can ever be a tenth as bad as a metal argument.  There are more metal genres than bands and everyone who listens to metal thinks he's the coolest metalhead of them all.

That being said there is an objective best metal and it's mongols

The Clash and Ramones are ok being here right? I mean possibly a tad old but their fine right?
