"Spouse of the Night Creature"
« on: July 02, 2014, 07:02:43 am »

I just had a wereshrew show up, kill one of my dwarves (A first for a werebeast for me!) and then turn into a "Spouse of the night creature".  She's described as:

"A large skinless humanoid.  It has a curling trunk and it mutters to itself as it moves aimlessly. Now you will know why you fear the night.

She is weak."

Anybody else have this happen before?

Oh, and it still scares my dwarves.

The full moon ended and the werecreature turned back into it's race.

You should kill it asap, since their human forms are way easier to kill than their transformations.

"A-anou, Necromancer-san, could...  C-Could I have your autograph?"
If you imagine an 8-bit Hinata with elf ears, it gets even more ridiculous ^_^

Yes, yes.  But its race is listed as "Spouse of the night creature".  That's the weird bit.

Night creatures can abduct dwarfs/elfs/humans and transform them into a "spouse of the night creature". Maybe this particular one was affected by a werebeast curse before it got abducted or something.
You should check it out in legends mode, haven't seen that combination before.

This is a rare occurrence! You almost never see night creatures or their spouses in fortress mode.

Likely this one only showed up because it was also a werecreature, so it had the were 'can attack fortresses' ability.

Strangely enough, you can embark next to a night troll's lair.  It never seemed to bother the fort too much, at least in that one time in 31.25, when that happened to me.

More than likely someone got taken by a night creature and turned into a night creature spouse, and then got into a fight with a were-shrew and was bitten then either won the battle or managed to escape.

I seem to recall it being possible for night creatures to attack you in Fortress mode (most notably, I recall seeing it happen in one of One F Jef's YouTube Let's Play videos).

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.
