I'd propose talking about the semi-recent c-51 law thingy, but I'm sure pretty much everyone here hates it as much as I do.

On the provincial side we don't have anything better than what Ontario have here in Quebec. On one side we have a massively corrupt liberal party which is currently in the process of completely dismantling the province, a separatist party that can't get anything done and is about to have the guy who owns pretty much every local media as a leader. We also have a fairly new party in comparison to the others which look as shady as the liberals and a few other ones who will never get in power because they're too small -_-

Pierre Karl Peladeau, actually. He owns Quebecor media, which is behind pretty munch every form of media in the province. He promised he would leave the company, but he haven't done it yet, and it will most likely go to his son.

which one is C-51? Can someone summarize it? I don't pay a lot of attention because everything the current government does is horrible, so I don't need any more reason to not vote for them...... just depresses me at this point.

It's a law project that is supposed to help protect the population from terrorists. One of the main complaint about it is that it defines terrorism in such a broad way that pretty much anything could be could be considered as terrorism. Some are afraid Harper will use it against rioters and environmentalists. Honestly, I wouldn't be much surprised to see him do it, considering his tendency of abusing loopholes and being a dictator wannabe in general. I agree that it is depressing.

From what I've heard he have 30-something % of the votes. He's in power mostly because non conservatives votes are split between multiple parties, while Harper is the only conservative available. In other words, he's exploiting a flaw in our voting system to maintain himself in power despite the fact that the majority of the country hate him.
