Ayleth laughs. She seems very amused.

[Dwarmin]

"...Seems like everyone is in a better mood now." Relic says, smiling at Ayleth. She didn't know much about the other woman except that she and Sockya...er, Sacha, were somewhat hostile toward one another...Relic supposed later she might ask them why they felt that way...

[Dwarmin]

Beolas absentmindedly glances back at the little gathering from his perch on the prow of the ship, then shrugs to himself, unable to make out what anyone is saying. He continues to watch the horizon.

Relic rolls up beside Beolas, leaning on the railing beside him.

"Looking for trouble, Beolas? Don't worry-I can spot it before you. Elves can see twice as far as Humans, even on a moonlit night..." She comments. "That's the real reason I was able to get work on so many ships over the years. I make a very good lookout...I'll make sure nothing sneaks up on you. Them. Us!"

[Flying Dice]

Beolas raises an eyebrow, "Lass, 'tis not the keenness of sight which matters, but what you see. Relic, what do you see when you look at the seas?"

[Dwarmin]

Relic supposed this was one of those questions you asked to find something out about someone else thought...or maybe she was over thinking it.

"Hmm...I see a roof. A big blue roof, over my home. We're just riding in the clouds, skidding over the tiles...up here, things are so different. The sun burns and the air moves-night and day, go around and around.  Down there it hardly seems time passes at all. Up here nothing stays the same, it's always changing-everyone and everything...makes me feel...

...When I see the sea, I guess I see a part of my home."

[Dwarmin]

Reli is quiet for a moment in thought.

"What do you see then, Beolas?"

[Flying Dice]

Beolas arches an eyebrow, "Waves," he utters in a deadpan.

[Dwarmin]

"Oh." She replied, a bit abashed. "So, what did you mean then? That I'd probably miss something important if I was watching the color of the clouds, instead of what's right in front of me?" Relic asks, forever easily confused.

[Flying Dice]

"No, no. Waves are nice to look at, make interesting shapes, and carry signs of rough conditions."

[Dwarmin]

"Hmm...I'm overthinking things...though, that is true...they are nice to look at...but, have you ever wanted to see the things under the waves, Beolas? There are many amazing things...like, if you look on moonless nights, you see lights deep below the water? Those are cities...

I once visited a Merfolk city made entirely of ice, when I was younger-my parents had to use magic to keep me safe from the pressure and cold, it was so deep-we were trading them steel weapons, for deep water pearls. Apparently the Mermages open portals to the Ice-World, and let it freeze into place-a solid block of ice, deep under the sea. Then, they carve cities from the ice, chip by chip, crystal towers and domes and minarets-using deep water vents of hot-water to hollow the insides of buildings and keep them comfortable for those who live in them...it's quite brilliant. The walls repair themselves when damaged, they just freeze right back. You'd be amazed at the beautiful ice carvings they make in the walls, how they interact with the light and darkness...I don't suppose you would want to visit some place like that, one day?" Relic says, her tone slightly mischievous.

[Flying Dice]

"Sounds like it'd be nae small challenge for one who breathes only air, aye?"

[Dwarmin]

"Adventure is all about overcoming challenges! All you have to do is hold your breath, and take the plunge...and have an air plant or two ready." She insists, reaching into her pouch and showing Beolas what looks like a cross between a river reed and a sponge, held in a small, clear glass bottle of water.

[Silthuri]

"Air plant? How, precisely, would a plant help one breathe underwater?"

[Dwarmin]

"Don't ask me about the specifics! All I know is we-er, the Sea Elves-cultivate these little things in fresh water for use when deep-diving. The plant stores fresh air, and it makes it too-when you squeeze it a bit, the air comes out. So, you pop it in your mouth and remember to bite down softly, it gives you a few minutes of breath."

"That sounds rather useful, though I'd nae like to rely on it."
