"I'm starting to think we might be a little out of our depth here. I nearly died on that rope and I'm not one for walking into a spider nest. Maybe we should come at this from a different angle? At the very least take a day to prepare. Obviously our plan of: Get drunk and then come into the cave blind is working fine, but we really should figure out as much about this cave as possible."

[Flying Dice]

"I thought we handled that well enough," Beolas answers with a slight frown.

[Nerjin]

"We got lucky Beolas." Sacha gestured towards the cliff "You and I could have died seventeen different times just getting down into the pit. The Spiders themselves could have noticed us. The dwarves want us to clear the entire mine, so far as I'm aware, but we don't know the layout. We could get lost and starve down there. I don't know about you, but I don't have any ability to detect our elevation in the stone. I'm not saying we did bad, just that if we keep going blindly we are very likely to die."

[Sirus]

Darwyn frowned as the magic faded from his weapon, feeling slightly disappointed. He had wanted to try that particular spell.

"I agree with Sacha. It seems we could use some more rope, at the very least, and maybe now the dwarves will be more cooperative with so many of these spiders slain. Plus I am completely out of combat magic, and while there's nothing to stop me from praying in this cave I'd rather not spend the rest of the day and all night down here."

[Nerjin]

"Plus I can probably scribe a scroll of Cure Light Wounds... Maybe multiple copies. That would free me and Darwyn up for other spells as well as allowing us to continue on for longer periods of time."

[Flying Dice]

"Whatever suits you, I suppose. Now, should we pull the rope up or leave it?"

[Nerjin]

"Well... I think we should leave it but pull it up. The knot is strong enough for us to climb up and down but just in case there's something down there that can climb ropes but not rocks."

Pull up rope. Leave to find the mayor or anyone who would be knowledgeable about the cave and could give us a detailed layout. Also search for supplies of any sort. Specifically look for more rope.

You take the rope and backtrack to the entrance.

The fresh sea breeze is an immense relief from the dark, dusty caves you'd been in for at least an hour. A passing woodcutter sees you all and yells to another dwarf none of you can quite see. It is apparently the mayor, as he comes running toward you, nearly bowling over the woodcutter, and asks you all collectively,

"W... well? Is it dead? The... the thing?"

[Nerjin]

"We killed quite a few giant spiders but we need a few more supplies. Mainly something to help us get into the giant chasm. The stairs have been collapes, we assume your doing, and I nearly died trying to climb down via a rope. I don't suppose you have a giant ladder? Barring that more rope would be well appreciated."

[Tawa]

"You killed more? How many?"

[Nerjin]

With a small sigh Sacha responded "I know with our luck you use their silk to make something vital to the economy but they were hostile and attacked us on sight. We killed around nine. You can check the bodies yourself if you wish."

[Tawa]

"What? Important to our economy? No, no. We hadn't heard of these things until now. You killed nine? That's quite a lot... were there any that fit the description of the beast? Or are you still searching for it?"
