Oleg scratches his head.

No, don't think so. I can be a deckhand or sumthin. Always wanted ta try it - seems like proper medtative work ta me.

He waves his hand in the direction of the ship.

Mebbe we should go check 'er out while the others are nappin'?

"There's a plan worth following, I say." Beolas boards the Seawolf to have a look around.

"Very well. Couldn't hurt." Sacha sighs as she follows Beolas.

The ship is old, but hearty. Its hull is painted red and the deck is hewn of a quite pale wood; perhaps birch, maybe even the rare sort called featherwood? The sail is on a large, green-painted L-shaped mast, that seems to swivel if allowed to do so by a small mechanism at its foot. The back of the ship contains a cabin and a ladder leading up; above the cabin is the steering wheel. (You know, the stereotypical kind with the spokes coming off and stuff.) The sides of the boat have several small black boxes on them, one on each side; [18+2=20] Sacha notes that they have enchantments on them to allow for various sorts of magically created attachments, such as ballistae or useful, sea-related tools. The deck has a small hatch overtop a ladder, presumably leading (where else?) belowdecks.

Glancing around himself, Beolas heads for the cabin.

Oleg nods and descends down the hatch.
Gotta see if there's any cargo down there.

The cabin of the ship contains a large, round table and a few chairs, cupboards, and the like. The map and letter are on the table.

The belowdecks actually contains two rooms. Once you get down, you're in the cargo bay, which contains a number of empty crates but also a crowbar, a hammer, and a box labelled "100 nails", presumably to be used in opening the crates and shutting them again. Through the door is a set of three bunk beds, each large enough to fit two people and each individual bed enclosed in a small, tent-like cloth "room" of its own, probably for privacy. One of the beds has an old set of traveler's clothes left in it; another, explorer's; one of them contains what appears to be a garish green entertainer's outfit. Presumably, Gil'agön's shipmates accidentally left some of their clothes in their beds. A little further searching reveals some lightly damaged equipment under the bed that had the green outfit in it; there is a grappling hook, four empty bottles, a badly broken bow, and a light wooden shield. Handy. However, each of them (minus the broken bow) is slightly dented, cracked, and in the case of the wooden shield, a little burned; all of them are missing 25% of their HP.

Beolas crosses the cabin, bending over to examine the map, despite being unable to actually read any of the labels. He shrugs with a faint grunt of dissatisfaction and exits onto the main deck, content to leave it for his better-taught friends to explain.

"Naught but the old man's letter and map in there, Sacha," he calls out.

Darwyn gazed at the boat from the safety of the dock, marvelling at what seemed to him to be an indescribably complex and wondrous machine. Marina swam in circles around it, clearly bemused at how it could move through the water without fins.

"May I see the letter?" he called up to the barbarian.

"Come aboard then, Darwyn, I'm no yer servant!"

In spite of his words Beolas returns to the cabin, carefully picking up the letter, before exiting once again to meet Darwyn.

Darwyn eased his way up the gangplank, as if he were half-expecting the boat to sprout wings and take off at the slightest misstep. He took the letter from Beolas with an absent-minded "Thank you".

"Naught but the old man's letter and map in there, Sacha," he calls out.

"Thank you Beolas." Sacha said as she climbed down into the cargo hold. The bottles intrigued her. Not for any reason she could explain but... She felt like she should grab them just in case. Barely restraining herself from simply grabbing the junk she instead returned topside to stand with Darwyn and Beolas. "Feeling a little uneasy on a boat? You spend so much time in the water with your fishy-friend I would figure you'd be more used to this sort of thing. By the way, there are some bottles in the hold. I have claim to them."

The letter reads:

I am old, and probably dead, if you're reading this. This map is to go to my grandson, Darwyn, and his friends. I wish for them to fill in the empty portions of the map and complete the work of my father, who could not come to see the place where his son settled.
                                                                             -Yours Truly, Gil'agön Dâvë"

Oleg pokes his head out of the hatch.

Ain't nuffin' down there save fer some old gear an' a few bunks. Oh, an' boxes. Lots of boxes.

He notices the letter in Darwyn's hand and casts a questioning look at it.

What's it say, then, Darwyn?"
