Ness frowns, then lights up.

"Don't worry! It's lasted this long, so the people who built it probably knew what they were doing. Watch, I'll even come with you!"

Ness puts her arm around Relic's shoulder, squeezing her for a moment to try and reassure, before starting to hum idly. The echoes somehow make the place feel...bigger.

Relic nods quickly, seeming relieved. Her breathing slows down, and the tenseness in her slight shoulders is replaced with a shaky resolution.

She looks up at Ness, at a loss for words. She can't seem to meet the other womans eyes directly.

"...Thank you, Nest...I'll be okay now, I think.

What is that song you were humming? It sounds familiar to me, somehow..."
she ponders.

"Hm? Oh, I dunno. Something I heard from one of the old guys back in the village, I think. I think he was an elf, so he was probably really old, anyway. He never told me the name of it, but he hummed it a lot. I think there's word that go with it, it sounds like one of those songs, I just wish I knew what they were..."

She releases the young woman, stretching, and goes back to humming as she looks around.

Look around for a good place to secure a rope. If there is one, do so with Beolas' coil.
The door to the building looks good. You secure the rope there, and it seems like one of the best knots you've ever tied.

Beolas nods to the others, "We're as ready as we'll ever be. I can go first, if you like?"

Relic nods rapidly.

"Yeah...but, be careful...pick up my sunrod when you get down there..."

Action: Descend the ladder after Beolas and Ness

Toss the rope down. Descend it, rather than the ladder.

All of you successfully make it to the lower room with little hassle.

The room appears to be a cube, roughly 15-by-15-by-15. There is a tunnel large enough to accommodate a single-file line of people, facing the opposite direction of the doorway to the building above you.

Relic picked up her sunrod once she has descended with a loud splash (right onto Sacha, unfortunately), nestling close to her chest. She paled, but was grimly determined to continue.

"...So the path gets...narrower...and tighter...I'm okay, I'm okay...I can do this....just breath...

...Hmmm...hmmm...hmm...hm..."
She said, starting to hum Ness's song in an off-key sort of way.

Action: Pick up my sunrod and let's go down that path in the same order?

"Agh damn it..." Sacha muttered "This is going to rust with all this water everywhere. Anyone have an idea what might be down here? This seems a strange set up."

Proceed in the same order

"Mmm, it might be a hidden watery cave with pirate treasure," Beolas rumbles happily.

Down the passage, same order. Sword drawn and pointed forward.

Ayleth follows the group, comfortably in the middle. She's holding her skirt above the water, complaining about her shoes being wet.

The path quickly begins leading downward. Little streams of water slowly flow down the slope of the tunnel, eventually gathering in pools at a level landing. At each landing, the corridor takes a turn and continues leading downward. Eventually, the tunnel levels off, a straight path with a muddy floor. Water drips from the ceiling, although not so much as to be worrying or indicate an immediate danger of flooding.
Spoiler: Relic, Ayleth (click to show/hide)
