Many of you may not be old enough to remember Jumpgate, and those are that are probably didnt hear about it because the publisher 3DO went belly up just as the game was release.
So you may be asking "Whats Jumpgate?"


Jumpgate is an MMO
In space
You fly, fight other pilots, trade, mine, and shoot down purple space squids.
In single seat fighters, shuttles, tradeships, and miners
With a soft newtonian flight model (that means your ships have inertia but also drag, gutting the throttle will cause your speed to bleed off, being heavy makes its slower to accel/decel-erate - fully loading your tow with uranium is a bad idea as it'll take you two minutes on full counter afterburn to slow to a halt after being flung out a station's launch mass driver)

The original server's were shut down a few years back, but like most MMOs of yesteryear glorious communist Russia has brought it back.
And its completely Free to Play.

As in real Free.

No monthly subs
No micro transactions
No buying game money

I've played this before! I happened across it originally because it's by Netdevil, who made some other MMO's I liked- both the ill-fated Auto Assault and the ill-fated Lego Universe. This game's been running for a LONG time. Unfortunately, despite having a lot of cool concepts that just aren't in other big online games, it really shows its age. I was hoping Jumpgate: Evolved would be good, but you know, that ill-fated prefix cropped up again, this time before it even came out.
