I'll use smite evil and then TWFing to attack swordsman 1 with my longsword and spiked shield. If he gets knocked out by the sword attack don't hit him with the shield. If ether attack knocks him out move next to axe mans pit.

Ilev Nuaugamkea, Aela Entaria, Guilhayl Aber and Mutt:
(Longsword Attack: 1+5+1, CRITICAL FAILURE. Shield Attack: 7+5+1, failure)
Ilev tries to uppercut, but horribly misjudged the arc of his swing. He would have tried to pass it off as a feint, if he hadn't missed with the followup attack.

It is Mutt's turn.

You sigh at your companions' apparent lack of ability to down one opponent, striding into range and casting a Ray of Frost at the remaining target.

Aela Entaria, Guilhayl Aber, Mutt and Ilev Nuaugamkea:
(Attack: 1+1, Critical Failure.)
Aela fires a ray of freezing air at the pillar, hitting it square in it's non-existent face.
(Attack: Success, 9 damage.) The last opponent, emboldened by the seeming incompetence of his foes, takes a swing at Ilev, slicing deeply into the Goliath's flesh.

It is Ilev's turn.

"I commend you little man for standing straight when all your allies are downed! You have even managed to wound me! Congratulations!"

Ilev Nuaugamkea, Aela Entaria, Guilhayl Aber and Mutt:
(Longsword attack: 17+5, Success, 2+1+4 damage.)
With a vicious counterattack, you fell your final opponent, and thrust your weapons in the air to the cheers of the crowd. On your way out of the arena, the same man hands you four bags of 250 gold, this time with a toothy grin.
Healers wait to offer you healing, if needed.

X'ithzol:
An interesting contest. Both teams fought well, and, if memory serves you, that Goliath who delivered the final blow was the same you encountered in the bar last night.

All:
With your purses heavy with gold and platinum, you have some time before night falls. A chance to get better equipped for tomorrow presents itself.

PathSeeker gladly accepts the healing offered, despite his joviality that was a pretty bad wound after all.

((By the way, despite growing up in what was basically a school dedicated to magic, my character is actually pretty clueless about magic. Would it make sense to just assume that I thought that Mutts attack was magic of some sort?))

Guilhayl hits the shops of the city (it is a city, right?) and picks up a heavy crossbow,-50 gold! 20 crossbow bolts,-2 gold! and buys two mules, 20 days' worth of feed, and a wagon, paying for their stabling for 2 days in advance..-52 gold and 2 silver!

Because transportation is an important factor. Also, assuming it's not the last time I'll get healed, I'll take some healing.

((Don't we have at least another day of tournament? And then who knows where we are going? It might be wise to wait, our travel expenses might actually be paided for by the hunt anyway.))

"I must say, I was quite surprised that Mutt was a magic user, I had just assumed that he was your body guard or something Guilhayl! He certainly doesn't look the sight."

"Yeah... magic. Sorcerer. That's what I am."

He stared at Pathseeker, wondering if he was being sarcastic or if he was genuinely that ignorant.

"Well, not like these arms would do well in swinging a battle axe."
