Saeberth investigates the door to the north.

The merchant jumps, clearly terrified.
A few days, if his mind hadn't begun to leave him. Possibly a week.
He seems to be checking in the shadows for any more of you.
We are the best party.
Also,

Typo, or speaking fumble indicative of possession?

That is, in fact, a typo. Fixing it now.

"Have you seen anything else of this place, then? Or have you cowered here for days while your friends lay dying?"
Cowered, mostly. I did enter that door to the north, but I ended up running back here when I heard what sounded like growling coming from down the corridor.
Meanwhile, Saeberth begins inspecting the door. It seems to be quite innocent of crimes of any sort. You know it's guilty, though. Your sources might be a rat, but he's a damn honest one. Nobody gets the best of Inspector Saeberth of Khale. Not the law, not Hairuk, not Palos, and especially not some two-bit door that doesn't know it's damn place in the world.
On a more serious note, you don't find any traps, mechanisms, etc. aside from, of course, the hinge.

Open the door.

((That... is quite possibly the coolest inspection of a door I've ever seen. Bravo. *claps*))

Hmmm. Ishmael moves over by the door, readying her spear for when Saeberth opens it.

Ishmael prepares to stab anything that might come through the door when Saeberth opens it. However, nothing does come out. However, you do hear a deep growling sound emanating from the depths of the room. The merchant seems to be digging around in the pile for a few seconds, and emerges with a rusty and rather battered short sword.

Saeberth walks into the room defensively and carefully, holding his shield in fron of him and his sword at the ready. (Should a monster jump me, I'm doing Total Defense as I move.)

"Wait! Wait, have disposable companions."

With a thought, the two zombies emerged out of the darkness, and marched infront of Saeberth, ready to absorb any attack.

((Might as well only risk the zombies I shouldn't even have. ))

Saeberth shudders a bit, but allows the undead to go before him.

As the zombies march into the darkness, a dark shape descends upon them from the shadows. It hits Zarn first, and bites the zombie's leg, twisting it and knocking it over. Zarn looks to be severely wounded, and both are unable to do anything at the moment.

Initiative time!

14+3=17

Saeberth charges the monster in full force, attacking with his blade.

Darkvision + Superior low-light vision. What does the thing look like? An animal?

((Sorry, forgot about that))
Ishmael can get a good view of the shadowy creature; it's quite large, and seems to be fairly wolf-like. Though you can't tell the exact color, it seems to have very dark fur. You can see that the eyes, however, are unlike those of any wolf, leaving no doubt as to the creature's identity: A worg.

No Wild Empathy then =(
"Beware, a Worg! There may be more!"
Ishmael moves to just in front of the doorway (leaving enough room for the others to get around her) and sets her spear against a charge.
