Alright, I think we've gone quite long enough without actually starting the game. Tryrar, if you get your full sheet up fairly soon, it shouldn't be a problem to get you into the first adventure.

About once every two years, there comes a night where the three moons that hang over Gueryth are all gone from the sky. Legend has it that such nights are cursed, and evil becomes more powerful, while the boundary between planes is thinned. Over the years, it's gotten the self-explanatory name of Darkmoon. During the day, anyone who could lift a sword would embark on quests, for coin and favors, while at night, great festivals would be held to ward off the evil spirits. This is considered by most to be mere superstition, but the traditions hold strong, and even then, most pay well for heroes to rid towns of kobold settlements or bandit gangs.
You've all come to the town of Volth, which has become famous for their Darkmoon Night festivals. By happenstance, the four of you inquired about the same quest, put out by a fairly major merchant. The request was fairly vague, and likely distorted by the number of times it's been repeated, as well as the generally drunken state of the story tellers. However, the relevant bits are something about exterminating some undead troubling the merchant's caravans, and a respectable sum of gold being available to anyone who responds.
You come across the merchant's home one by one, but it would seem that he was out on some business for a time; after a few minutes of waiting, he comes across the four of you waiting near his home. He beckons you in, and offers a glass of mead to each of you.
"Now, are you familiar with the Bonemarsh, out to the north east?" [Knowledge: Geography check, DC 10]

Here is Malkor. I'll work out flavor later, I wanted to get him in in time to start.

Edit: IC response(ignore if not accepted yet) "No, can't say I'm familiar with that location offhand."

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

One of them was a young woman, barely an adult, carrying a coffin on her back. Her skin was grey, and her very movements seemed to show her bpdy weighed far less than it should.

"Not familiar. Please tell."

"As the name implies, it's a fairly large marsh. As the name also implies, it's plagued by the undead. Nobody's quite sure why they're there, but legend holds that a demilich was destroyed in the place, and it's power still lingers. Regardless, a fairly profitable trade route runs through there. It's free of bandits, and any detours around it would be lengthy. As such, I'm more than willing to pay for a few hired blades to clean it out. Most of them seem to congregate around an old set of ruins in the eastern bit of it. I've got a map somewhere around here, if you decide to take the job. Anyways, mop up the undead out there, and if you can, figure out where they're coming from. I'll pay you 30 gold each for wiping them out; 40 if you can make sure they stay that way."
The door flies open, and a man walks in, who quickly introduces himself as Malkor.
"Well, good thing you got here in time; they almost grabbed the job out from under you. They'll explain the job to you. Now, give me a second while I go fetch that map."

Malkor smiles at Chalka He is a tallish, stout man who has a perpetual smile on his face. "I have no fear of the undead when I'm under the protection of Hairuk, whose burning radiance cleanses evil."

((I just noticed we actually have anti-synergy Gil. I'm a cleric who turns undead(and am planning to take the Radiant Servant prestige class, so multiple uses of Greater Turning), while you're a straight up necromancer. This could be fun once Malkor sees you raising corpses :P))

[Know:Geo DC10] roll

Rikas sneers slightly, "The Bonemarsh? Oh yes, I may have been through there a time or two. You've all prepared adequately, I hope?"

Those of you who pass the Knowledge: Geography check recall that the ruins he's referring to are likely the ones built by a tribe of gnomes that used to live there, notorious for taking advantage of the fact that parts of the marsh are toxic, and using that in their traps.

The merchants returns to the front room, holding a scroll on rather aged parchment.
"It's a little old, so the settlmement markers and some of the landmarks might be a touch different - the Wailing Spire I know for a fact sunk into the marsh - but I trust that the ruins aren't going anywhere. Any other questions?"

"Know what local diseases we might have to watch out for in the marsh? Any poisonous animals? Will there be edible plants?"

"I can't think of any diseases, but as far as poisonous animals go, you need to watch out for the leeches in the toxic muck. You shouldn't see any, but if you do, make sure they don't touch you. There a pain to get off, and they're said to drain your thoughts and sap your strength. Not that I can confirm any of that. In the way of edible plants, there aren't any I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm no ranger."

"Joy. Tall boots it is, then."Ishmael grimaces, shifting her feet. "You said that the area has a trade route running through it, is there a decent path? Regarding the undead in the area, are they mostly of a specific kind, and have they been observed acting intelligent, co-ordinated, or simply as wandering pests?"

"There is a path, and if I'm not mistaken, a few supply caches if you run out yourself. The ruins are a ways off the trail, though. The undead tend to wander around and simply make a nuisance of themselves, but when a caravan goes through, it's like dropping a crystal shard on Aetherium; everything in a mile goes into a veritable blood frenzy. They seem to like the pack animals best, from what the survivors say."

"Hm...I've not thought of that. If you've got a plan, then I'll be willing to make a deal for, say, a donkey. If you're successful in your plan, I'll pay you the 8 gold needed to buy a donkey. Otherwise, the cost will be on you. Do we have a deal?"
