Saeberth takes the map, and with it, the party leaves. Following the map's crude drawings, you find yourself shortly to the Bonemarsh, as the sun hangs in the center of the sky, though not quite noon. It looks to be a fairly short way to the ruins, assuming you don't plan on taking any detours, or you don't get stopped by wandering undead. Do you have any alternate plans, or will you just push on to the ruins?

Saeberth casts a look around that says, "Let's press on."

"I also say we press on. No sense trying to find our way around the marsh when night falls."

No. I suppose there are similarities, but I'm fairly certain angry birds doesn't let me charge into a battalion of knights with a car made of circular saws.

"Aye. Press on."

And with that she continued towards the ruins, the coffin on her back bobbing slightly with every steo, the chains clinking softly.

The journey to the ruins is relatively uneventful. Coming to where the map claims it is, you find a structure more akin to a well than anything; it's a simple hole, about 4 feet in diameter, with a high roof about 6 feet above it to keep the rain out. It's made from dark bricks, with handholds set in the side for climbing down. What looks like a fire sits at the bottom, and you'd guess it's about 10 feet down.
While you're investigating the structure, three undead break the surface. As they reach the top of the marsh, you see that they're human zombies.

Spoiler: Initiative time! (click to show/hide)

((Sorry for the slight delay, I got distracted by trying to continue reading Homestuck))

The undead are behind you, but arise slowly enough so that they don't get the drop on you. They're within 5 feet. Also, the well isn't flooded.

Rikas Init: [19]

Move: 20ft. away from the zombies, moving to one side of the "well".
Standard: Plink the nearest zombie with my hand crossbow.
[15] to attack for [2] damage if relevant.

Rikas mutters darkly to himself about wasted spells as he darts behind his erstwhile allies, raising his hand-crossbow instead of using a spell on such a poor target.

Chaika giggled. Three zombies?

She skipped back twenty feet or so, then stomped her foot and put some magic in her voice.

"Cower! Beg! Pathetic worms!"

Rebuke the undead!

Initiative: 7+3=10

Saeberth mutters something about them being "redead", then prepares to kill them.

((We can assume that, being in a marsh full of zombies and skeletons, I've had my shield and sword unsheathed the entire time for protection, right?))

Just run up and cut 'em to pieces.
