These things. Orks view them as the embodiment of their gods. Gork and Mork and "Orky" don't have avatars the way most of the other races do.

Alternatively, you could consider truly "smart" orks as something vaguely supernatural to Orkdom, because it's so rare.

As I understand things, in the non-warp world there has always been ways to protect regular ole humans from just dying of heart attacks upon looking at warp creatures. In Emps day, it was because he basically forced everyone to repeat "Daemons arent scary" over and over again, and then when the Imperial Cult became a thing, psychic-based religion magic did the job. Also, if I remember correctly, Emps teleported onto Horus' cruiser with a massive army at his back which scattered through out the whole ship, basically turning into one giant free for all.

People puke blood when they experience even a minor daemon's daemonic aura. A greater daemon can literally stop people's heart with terror, or boil their minds with insanity. Psychic and spiritual indoctrination helps but it's not likely most people have an opportunity to practice it much before they become daemon food.

It's inconsistent, but if I had to try and see it in a consistent way it comes back to the Armor of Contempt. Willpower allows a human to resist daemonic influence, most people just don't have enough. This is also why PCs in the RPG mechanics can take way more Corruption than NPCs. Chaos is spiritual malware, and most people have open ports.

This also allows Ollanius Pius scenario to take place: all the other Guardsmen got killed, so he's the only one there. This also provides a more convincing reason why him being killed is what showed the Emperor that Horus was irredeemable. Ollanius being alive at all marked him as a man of greatness, a perfect example of what the Emperor wanted for humanity, and Horus slaughtered him without hesitation.

Also, keep in mind in the HH version of the final battle, Horus let the shields on his ship down. The Emperor only took superhumans, but anybody could have and would have teleported up to attempt a decapitation strike.

So, uh, these are things that can be summoned anywhere with enough effort put into the procedure, right?
How, exactly, have many wars been won against Chaos?

Summoning daemons is kind of difficult, but yes, it can theoretically be done anywhere. However, here's the rub: Daemons can't exist in the material world. It's no more home to them than the warp is to humans. Only in a warp storm can a daemon indefinitely remain, even a greater daemon. If you just have some cultists who want a Daemonette around, she'll be gone pretty soon even if nobody interferes.

This is why daemonhosts exist and why they're so powerful: the entity can both persist within a physical shell and does not have to use the majority of its power keeping its body together.

As for winning wars against Chaos, the Imperium mostly doesn't once warp manifestations start. When daemons take the field all hell breaks loose, that the defenders of Armageddon fought them and won was a serious upset. Many wars against Chaos are won, but those wars are against mortal cultists or CSM with very little daemonic support. At that stage, you need to call down Space Marines.

Thing is, once the warp starts overflowing you might as well retreat and launch the cyclonic torpedos, because the corrupting energy will start to seep into the planet itself.

The Warp is a native land for Humans... they just don't know it.

The Warp has kind of been... Corrupted so to speak but a better way to put it is the Warp is the spirit realm.

You know, where Yu-Gi gets threatened with all the time.

We know that humans can survive the warp. Hell, we know that humans can LIVE in the warp. Most of the traitor primarchs werebt batshit insane, just angry. Additionally, we know that you can come out of the war incorruptible, or at the very least with your ideals and morales reasonably intact. Take that legion, the Damned I think, that one that got sucked into the warp, yet they still pop up once in awhile to kick ass for the emporer.

I mean, it's possible for humans t have healthy interactions with the warp. We know that the Chaos Gods aren't all bad, it's just they have adapted to the current mindset of the galaxy. Vengeance, Death/Life, Knowledge, Love aren't inherently bad. BUUUT since the entire galaxy is in a giant war, what with orks and tyranifs and weeaboos and stupid interracial tension, they have adapted to follow along

Remember, the Emporer tried to starve the chaos gods. It stands to reason that it's possible to OVERfed them, like what the Eldar did to Slaanesh

Edit: Also, I doubt Slaanesh was completely created by the Eldar. More likely it was a dormant god that was awoken by the Eldars Promiscuity. Lust is a HELL of a lot older than those Space Elves

Also there's tons of examples of Orks Waaagh mindpowers manifesting themselves. WeirdBoyz can summon giant fists and feet to squash enemies. If a ton of Weirdboys really focused hard, they'd probably summon something similar to a Daeon. Granted, it would probably just look like a giant, glowing Ork, but still.

There are also humans that can resist daemonic corruption and come out super resistant to chaos. The whole concept of the illuminati was based on that before GW decided to retcon it all because cool things that can affect the status quo aren't allowed to exist.

The version of that that's stayed around is that if you are possessed then have the daemon exorcised you become immune, or nearly immune, to future corruption, though your soul is shredded and mangled in the process leaving you very detached from those around you.

It's part of DH fluff and the fluff for a Space Marine chapter that works with the Grey Knights occasionally (Exorcists I think). You can even have it done to you in DH, though it's got a lot of penalties and risks associated with it.

People capable of demon fighting are not that horribly uncommon in imperium,
There are ecclesiarchy exorcists, who are kind of widespread and do that as their daily job.
There are mechanicus dudes, who banish demons by spouting ancient  memes in binary at demons and demonic software.

Voidborn background kind of allows character to go on his business without sanity checks, unless it is greater demon tier shit of course. Nah, matey, business as usual reaction to things like : demon possessing vent and making it rotate backwards, while shooting violet sparks/ walls showering with blood. Also bonus knowledge of stuff like : " If servitor has violet glow in the eyes, grows horns and tries to wield extra chainsaws to himself, while laughing maniacally, ye better run. "

Blanks happening once in a million might be not that hard to find, if we consider ammount of worlds and population imperium has.

Eisenhorn's distaff (a "school" for blanks) was a fairly large organization before Pontius Glaw had them all killed. AFAIK finding recruits for the distaff was not a top priority for Eisenhorn. If some group made it priority #1 (gather them up in the same way the black ships gather psykers) you could probably staff whole armies with nothing but blanks given the size of the imperium.

Hmmm... If you breed two blanks do you get a higher chance for blank children?
