Power Armor isn't repurposed tech, it was created during the Unification Wars and improved over the years. What they had in the Dark Age was probably absurdity like suits made out of that ceramic that can survive exposure to nuclear testing.

I just remembered, I always thought that the complete armor suit from Shadow Complex was a lot like what a Dark Age Power Armor should look like. Sleek and overpowered. Especially the invincibility while standing still, miniaturized void shields or some other nonsense.

GWS has never quite figured out how any of that shit should look. It's always a mish-mash between "looks heavy and awkward but is high-tech" and "is actual high-tech."

I always imagined Dark Age of Technology suits a bit akin to Tribes armour. Quite resilent, very versatile and - in right hands - SANIC FAST. Because even Space Marines don't skate around at speed of sound.

I figured Dark Age tech wasn't designed for humans at all - their entire military was made up of the Men of Iron.

Were that the case humanity surely would have been exterminated when the Men of Iron turned on them. The Speranza also claims to be Dark Age technology, and it's clearly meant for human use.

The only interpretation where that makes sense is one in which the Men of Iron were primarily destroyed by the beginning of the Age of Strife ruining warp travel so severely even they couldn't handle it. Even then, the Men of Iron were powerful enough to wipe out entire xenos empires from afar, which means a single system's worth would have no problem eliminating all human life in the local area.

No, the Men of Iron were humanity's sword, but they couldn't have been the whole picture. Incidentally, there's been a very interesting development in the Men of Gold and Stone. In short, Men of Gold = Genetic Ubermensch Race, Men of Stone = Artificial Silicone Life. The source isn't overly trustworthy, but I distinctly remember hearing this exact conception of them before, on /tg/. I know genuine 40k affiliates do hang out there from time to time, so it makes me wonder...

"Für den Imperator!" we drop the god part mostly because it doesnt roll as well as in english as in it sounds terrible. Actually many of the English battle cries and mantras don't work in german so they have by and large been replaced.

Tbh, you usually hear "FOR THE EMPERRRUUUR" instead of "For the God-Emperor" too. Doesn't have the same ring to it.

"FOR THE EMPRRRAHHHHHH!!!!!" is usually the battlecry. He's referred to as the "God-Emperor" more commonly in speech than warcries in my experience.
