Then the Fermi paradox makes sense, and they are right to hide in fear.

We are coming.

Because aliens are all bastards.
Unless the aliens were us.

What if we started a civil war. Got bombed for it.

Tzeentch has salty tears.
Never salt.
Tzeentch is the little anime girl who is unashamedly bawling whilst going 'This is all going just as p..planned. You'll see! Everything's going just FINE.'

like I get that hes been outdone a bit, but his entire reason for existing is change, right?  since when was a stagnant, unchanging plan not the anathema of change?  he wins as long as somebody else loses.

just as planned is teh irony flavored pizza. like an inside joke.

I imagine that his apparent incompetence and alternating competence, his half successes are also'just as planned'.  for is that not change.

his very sphere espouses chaos and instability.  and knowledge, but that only fits

It is Tzeentch's nature to have multiple plans that are actually opposed to one another. His followers often assume this is because he has one grand scheme that all others are simply a part of and any failure of conflict of them is really all a part of it.

In truth most of his plans have no real goal, he plots for the sake of plotting, an endless mania of twisting ambitions and half-finished schemes infinitely complex in nature and variation. In truth he can never truly achieve what he wants, for to achieve means you no longer need to hope, plot or change. To win would be to invite stagnation.

Yeah, I make jokes but Portent seems to cut to the heart of it.
He's not incompetent at all, he's just insane.

Except I guess not because he fears insanity, hence the fate of Kairos fateweaver.

So we'll go with 'whimsical'.

Is it just me or have the Regimental Standard articles gotten shorter as of late? Budget cuts from GW perhaps?

I'm not so sure Tzeentch feared insanity as much as dissolution. Every daemon sent into the well before Kairos never came back out, he supposedly only managed as he was the strongest Lord of Change at the time. There was a very real threat that to enter the well would kill even Tzeentch. Even to him it was a thing of unknown power and potential.

Ok I am not quite "getting" the point of the Ethereal unit.

Since they seem like a rather huge liability for a morale boost that the Tau aren't even poor at.

Ohh my goodness... I just realized that the majority Warhammer 40k is a fight between theocracies...

Is it really worth it?

Ethereal honestly aren't that big of a liability. Not unless you expect to be fighting Blood Angel Steal Rehn.

They're cheap, too.

Also I just realized that the majority of the factions in the setting are Theocracies.
