Agreed. There’s still a few things from 7th i’d be hungry to keep, but that isn’t one of them.
Also a big fan of the new wounding chart. Everything is more survivable- nothing is immune.

Anyone know of a place I can find 40k RPG stories to read?

All guardsman party is a laugh.
Otherwise there’s a billion black library books available around. Certain specific anonymous web boards usually have a MEGA if you’re poor or stimgu

What's the difference between a Magos Dominus and a Magos Prime?

Also, which kind of Magos is the one that specialises in making weapons?

What's the difference between a Magos Dominus and a Magos Prime?
Magos Dominus (or Magos Domina) are a type of Adeptus Mechanicus Magos who are masters of the Legio Cybernetica, Electro-Priests, and Servitors. Heavily trained in the art of war and able to skillfully monitor the battlefield with machine-like precision. Magos Dominus control the basic battle congregations of non-Skitarii and Titan Mechanicum forces. The ancient and dreaded art of battle-robotics they study has made many within the Mechanicum consider them dangerous, limiting their chances of rising to power.

Magos Prime are a type of Adeptus Mechanicus Magos armed and trained for war with the finest armaments and defenses. They are chosen from their peers to lead in battle and in most cases are heavily augmented with weaponry and armor. Some Magos Prime may even resemble Space Marine Dreadnoughts.

In short Magos Dominus are miltary commanders while Primes are ultra elite field troops and field commanders.

Also, which kind of Magos is the one that specialises in making weapons?
All of them? Most of them anyway? Most are devoted to learn how to assemble better, most efficient killing machines, how to kill xenos and hereteks more efficiently and so on.

I'm curious as to how a tank would evolve. Would it climb out of the primordial ooze wiggling it's track-nubs, feeding on smaller jeeps before crawling onto the shore having evolved proper treds?
My ship exploded midflight, but all the shrapnel totally landed on Alpha Centauri before anyone else did.  Bow before me world leaders!

I mean, Cybernetica would probably be more better at making weapons than Biologis, and Ordo Reductor maybe more than that.

Could swear I've seen manufacturer tech priests referred to as the Ordo Technicus once. Magos Technicus certainly sounds right to me in the same way as Magos Biologis.

Artisans

Artisans create and restore truly wondrous weapons of war, from ornate Gamma Pistols to the mind-boggling immensity of the Ark Mechanicus. Also known as constructors, they design machines, buildings, spacecraft, weapons, and military hardware. They often oversee activity on Forge Worlds and control vast labor forces of Servitors.[1]

    Forge Lord
    Mechasapient
    Praetor Electroid
    Cybersmith
    Technoarcheologist
    Necromechanic

Forge Lords make all kinds of things, and some certainly specialize in weapon making. They're less mobile than some Tech Priests because they're tied to their forge worlds. But there are plenty of stories about explorator fleets that have forge and foundry ships. And a few quasi-militant Magos who both commanded forces and constructed their own war machines and personal weapons.

Ordo Tech Support

"Greetings, this is Ordo Tech Support. How may this humble servant of the Machine God assist you this day?"

"..."

"Did you perform the Rite of Re-initialization while singing a hymn of praise to the Machine Spirit?"

"..."

"Gently detach the power supply from the holy machine, and wait in silence for 10 to 15 seconds, then perform the rite while singing the hymn."

"..."

"Very well, I shall dispatch a Repair Servitor immediately. It shall arrive in 53 years, 193 days, and 7 hours. Thank you for calling Ordo Tech Support."

I think there was some mention of Magi Secutor being involved in weapon manufacturing as part of their studies of war, so it depends. The people running the forge worlds cranking out billions of bog-standard lasguns are not the same people making bespoke master-crafted weaponry.

The thought of tech-support being an incredibly powerful freelance body outside of the chain of command kind of terrifies me.
At least Tech-Marines have some culpability. Enginseers- one unaffiliated guy who happens to be in charge of an entire battalion’s war machine... that’s someone you feel uncomfortable telling about problems with your tank.

I mean, faulty lasguns I can see being “just throw it in recycling and grab another from the pile”, but a Leman Russ.
... actually that might be the exact same.

In a sense it's not, though. The Adeptus Mechanicus is an incredibly powerful and incredibly distant body that has in its wisdom selected the Enginseers for dangerous, unglamorous duties very far from home. These are not its most prized up-and-coming members, and their statistically expected deaths may not demand the most detailed of explanations should a Commissar or someone similarly empowered decide to rid themselves of a turbulent tech-priest. One presumes the smarter Enginseers are cognizant of that.

That's some fine word-choice, there.

The alliance of Mars and Terra, taken forward into the 41rst Millennium, is really interesting to me.  Two entities which respected nothing but themselves and, to an extent, each other.  A suspicious alliance which retains a measure of distance after ten thousand years.  Both sides have changed immensely, yet the relationship remains.
