Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. 8) :) ;)
As for the skills, do people want the first or second option? Because, honestly, I could care less, except it is vital for the game.

.... Whereas the second works better if we're playing our characters, and also makes more sense in regards to having skill slots. What was the decision on whether we were stuck as our characters or were "ourselves"?

Well it'd be more fun to be yourself. Then develop as you go, a kind of what if game for what you could have been in a different life.

I just associate gender by what I normally see people playing as.
I now know how KJ sees me in his head. XD

Glad to see this progressed while I fell asleep.

I agree with this guy:
Dude, I suck, why would I want to be me when I can be awesome?
Why would I want to be me? In all honesty, I'd probably just walk up to something and say "Hey. Kill me."  :-\

Well because you could be yourself and awesome.

Well because you could be yourself and awesome.
The two are mutually exclusive.

Naw, just because your not awesome now doesn't mean you can't be in different circumstances.

It's implied that we are generated as awesome as we are right now. If we were, for example, kidnapped at birth and put in the game that's a different story but if we're normal old us then we probably aren't at all badass.

Nor is anybody when they play a game? You become badass over time.

Replace "badass" with "effective at all", and you've got a better idea of it, giving the general ridiculousness of video game combat.
Still preferring Blitz's original idea, maybe with fewer starting skills, because at the very least we'll only mildly suck.

Ahh I planned to use me from the start. But my dad wanted a son and got me so I got pushed into all the sports and martial arts and shit anyway.

I love me, me kicks ass.
