What? I don't understand your post, kj. Also, Hugo, armor did jack-all against the more powerful enemies.

However shields did often make a difference, and PvP will end up being a thing most likely.

More powerful? It did nothing against the weak enemies either all that counted was your level. Higher level meant more hp regen armor was decorative.

Shield or agility were your defense. Or you attacked so fast they couldn't attack you.

This can all be solved by not using SAO, it seems.

Or we can say screw SAO and just let people have fun.

You seem to be trying to base everything off of it still. We could, you know, use a different system. Just about every MMO I've ever played had armor that actually mattered.

I'm aware of that. It was the reason I stated it did nothing. So I could, you know, get people's opinions. I intend to make this different from SAO, though, don't worry about that.

Meh doesn't mean much to me if I use it at all it'll be to light to be effective as armor. My characters equipment will be selected for agility.

I'll have to see the system before I can decide if I join. Shields, arm or and ranged weapons don't fit my character.

I'm still not entirely sure what the premise will be, but in many MMO's I've played armor is extremely important.

But, 'nother question. Is backstory even going to matter for this, as the "characters" aren't even real people?
And in determining starting equipment, what are we going to do? Are we going to buy equipment with points before we begin - which is kinda annoying - or just start with nothing and select early on? I've kind of gotten myself interested in being an alchemist - the potion making kind, of course. Mainly because acid. But I don't see that being a choice.

BD and I were talking about it on the IRC and he mentioned wanting to start his own, so I thought this was it. With that assumption, I thought it was going to be "You wind up stuck in an MMO world," but now, given Blitz's statement, it looks like "You play an IRL person who winds up stuck in an MMO world."

On a more serious note, the starting equipment issue requires other things to be decided, the most important being: are we going to use a class system?

I'm getting tired and I'm not well enough to sit arguing about a game.

Free form as in the opposite of WOW in which you have no control over your characters development. If you choose a priest you have 0 weapon skill if you choose a warrior you can't even fire a crossbow straight.
WOW is designed to force you to play in specific roles.

That's it's strength but it's also a boring system.


The system from Kingdom of Amalar for example was extremely free form.
