Although, a point can be made that most bosses ignore players until the fight starts.

Kinda depends on the boss. Some bosses ignore some attack the moment you walk in.

In guild wars 2 you can fight a boss (In dungeons anyways) and run away if your team is about to be killed off. Not done alot because then the boss regens but some do it to modify strategies and whatnot.

Also my character is also a merchant who's going to be looking for items to sell. Plus with sub guilds i'm going to join the erotic crazy mistress pewd and her burlesque dancers as a seprate merchant arm of her organization. That way i can i go with them through dungeon runs and collect loot together.

It's generally true in my experience that you're stuck with the boss, though most games seem to let you escape with teleport items.

Some bits may need to be done IRC, just to use myself as an example when I meet with a large group of people to recruit and I ask them things they're going to want to ask me things as well and doing that in PBP either means a long bullet point lists of questions or cutting a lot of it out.
