So he might as well make a backstory for them since they're his thing.
Jeez, I don't mean to be rude, but how people can't figure out that "so..." generally means something along the lines of "might as well because it makes sense to do so" is beyond me.

Edit: Well, technically it doesn't, but for this it does. It's more a general "should be easy to figure out why" thing.
