After the Atomic War ended, the world was left in a mutant-infested turmoil. Most of the continents were annihilated, and only the toughest ones survived, and even then they ended up as horrifying mutants - except they are not all that scary. Except for those who are. And they are very scary. And very rare.

Most people have accepted guns as objects of worship, as they have dictated the current state of the world, and nowadays are rather rare. The few remaining ones are usually one's most prized possession, and are also the sign of power. Ammunition has become everyday currency, while pre-war money has become worthless paper and is mostly used as fuel.

Guns are not the only thing that matter however. People have been mutating since day 1 of the apocalypse, and are often given new and unique powers thanks to it. Thus, the primary mutagen - Muta-Cola, is now very sought-after, and is easily considered the post-apocalyptic gold. However, fewer and fewer cans of this radioactive beverage remain, but stories tell of other types of mutagens being traded on the black market (which is to say, all markets) that can mutate the drinker in ways never seen before, but the effects of those sketchy mutagen drinks are not known until it's too late...

When not fighting over ammo, Muta-Cola, guns or all of the above, the humans, frogs and birds of the wasteland tend to spend their time at their makeshift bases scattered across the land, planning their next move...

...And once the resources of the civlized continents have been almost completely depleted, they all turn towards the last untouched place on Earth...

Antarctica.
Or rather...
Guntarctica.

Because you know that when gun-obsessed mutants take over the world everything needs to have a gun-related pun in its name. Gundamnit, those people...

Head to the ever-so-slowly melting South Pole and make it yours before anyone else does!

Humans
Humans are the remnants of the pre-apocalypse world. They are scavengers and nomads and rarely stay in one place for prolonged periods of time, but do not go down easily. They make up their lack of unique mutant traits with clever technology such as boot rocket jets, to help them move around the annihilated cities and deserts more easily.

Humans as a whole don't have a single leader. They usually travel in convoys of armored trucks and quads, commanded by the guy with the best gun, which is usually the object of worship of the rest of the convoy.
Humans' primary currency are 9mm Parabellum cartridges, as they tend to engage at medium-range combat where their preferred guns, the Uzis, are the most effective.

Frogs
Frogs were the first sentient mutant race to appear on Earth. Afraid of the sun (and cold) they spend most of the time deep underground in train and subway stations, and bunkers, and wear hoods when on the surface to avoid the hot sun. Slow but tough, frogs are a tough challenge to anyone foolish enough to underestimate them based on their size, before they realize they can jump over a small house and land safely on the other side with your stuff running to their guntrain.

Frogs live in underground vaults interconnected by railways and each vault is governed by a single frog mayor, elected in a relatively calm manner (read: whoever survives a shootout between the candidates).
Frogs' most commonly used currency are the 12-gauge shotgun shells, as the shotguns are invaluable in the tight underground corridors.

Birdfolk
The birdfolk are a rather savage group of various races of birds, living above all other mutants, not really caring about their problems. Except for the times they do. And they're dead serious about it. With mighty-looking airships and hoverboards for swift overground movement, birds can easily outspeed most opposition before they realize they're under attack and run away unscathed. However they can't take much abuse before dropping dead so they must use their speed and agility to their best advantage.

The birdfolk are splintered into multiple sky kingdoms, each with their own monarch ruling over the rest from their giant airships.
As they tend to engage in at long distances, birds are the most willing to accept the titanium arrows as their currency.

GUNS!
The very treasures of the pre-apocalyptic time, guns are very rare, very precious and very deadly. So if someone is lucky enough to find one, especially if it's not a common gun, then he can be damn sure he is gonna be respected. Because he might shoot your head off in a split second without any qualms about it if you look at him funny.


Uzi
They may look small, but they can tear into Swiss cheese if you're not careful around someone who really knows how to use one. Or two.

A rapid-fire, low-damage medium-range weapon. Uses 9mm bullets, has a 20-round clip magazine and reloads quickly. Preferred weapon of choice of humans.


Shotgun
Shotty. Sawn-off. Boomstick. They have many names but one thing in common - they hurt and they are loud. So you better don't waste those shells if you want to end up anywhere.

A medium-fire, medium-damage close-range weapon. Uses 12-gauge shotshells, holds up to 6 shells and each shell is reloaded manually. More common among frogs than other races.


Bow
A gun that should technically not even be a gun, but somehow is one anyway. Doesn't mean it can't cause you to drop dead.

A slow-firing, high-damage long-range weapon. Uses titanium-tipped arrows and can only fire one at a time (usually...). Popular among the birdfolk.

MELEE!
Guns are nice and all, but they are rare, and ammo isn't running around willy-nilly either. So you need something to back yourself up with reliably. And what is better for that than a solid close-combat melee weapon? Especially if the weapon in question is also a nice utility tool for when you're not busy fighting off angry mutants.


Chainsaw
If you saw someone running at you with this 21st century grandson of a sword, what would be your reaction? Yeah, you got it right, you would RUN!

A relatively short-range melee weapon with a very high attack speed. Can be used to cut through wood.


Shovel
Does it look dangerous? Sorta. Is it dangerous? Take a guess why so many people carry one.

A medium-range melee weapon with a medium attack speed. Can be used to mine through some materials like snow and dirt.


Plasma lance
Previously used for industrial cutting, now a deadly polearm. Still used for industrial cutting.

A long-ranged melee weapon with a slow attack speed. Can be used to cut through some harder materials and to weld things together.

EXPLOSIVES!
Explosions! Who doesn't love them? I don't know but I can tell you that mutants do. If they can get their hands on any of these boomstuffs, they're guaranteed to ruin someone's day with them!


Hand missile
Grenades. They are so pre-war. Real mutants throw missiles at people, that's right! Although the only difference between them are the detail colors, some believe that some color is superior to others...

A throwable, long-ranged missile that flies in a straight line and explodes on impact.


Grenades
Maybe they're not so pre-war after all...Especially after you realize that some people really have a lot of them. And they're happy to throw them at you if you don't know what you're doing.

Throwable, medium-range grenades that fly in an arc and explode after a few seconds. Available in higher quantities than other explosives.


Landmine
Is it a fedora? Is it a biscuit? Look, it's a landmine!

A deployable mine that can be manually detonated. High explosion radius.


There are stories of many, many other types of weapons, but most of them are one-of-a-kind and very rare. If one were to put their hands on them however, they're guaranteed to become famous, powerful and the #1 target for weapon thieves and bandits.

Who are you and how many guns do you have?
Scratch that, you have none. Explosives?

No, forget about those too. All you have is a melee weapon. What melee weapon do you have?

Well the plasma lance is a melee weapon, I say get it cause it can be used as a polearm or a cutting implement or a welding implement. Even if we don't have fuel for it, we can still kill that fucker with the chainsaw cause we can hit from further away.
