I love how people who have read a bit of behaviorist theory believe that nobody who rejects it can possibly know anything about it.

I guess my post was kinda off topic, too. . .

On topic: I can't seem to think of any critter in the game that can be harvested from without killing it.  Such a feature would also allow other useful things, like sheering sheep for wool.

Wool??? Oh NO!!! I can see goblins stealing wool and coming back with fake beards, slowly infiltrating the fortress. New job: beard-puller.

on subject regardless of real life considerations (please no-one try to persuade me milk is good or bad it makes me puke and thats all i need to know) i reckon milk could be introduced as a substitue for water in places with no or carp infested water so dwarves will drink it if they cant get alchohol and it will be given to injured dwarves.

And for my worms.
They cannot farm, and thus if the water evaporates they have to gather outdoor plants that they can't eat in order to make delicious alcohol

A friend of mine tried Kumis while he was in Mongolia. He said it tasted terrible, like vomit. Though im sure the taste varies (like any alcohol).

I just want milk that doesn't come from an animal that eats rotting flesh. Is that too much to ask? (And if this spawns another page of comments along the lines of "milk-is-bad-for-you," then I'm sorry I asked.)
