The cloaked man looked around to each of the entrants, and cocked his head to the side.
: "Don't talk much, do you? I can respect that." The cloaked man breathed a heavy sigh, "I'll make this brief then. Call me Clive. I have an assignment in At-Ilm, and I need escorts."

The girl's demeanour changed, shifting so suddenly and completely it was as if there was a whole new person there. Someone cold, calculating, and competent. Not to mention self-assured. Juna spoke.

"I have skill with dark magic, sir, and would...appreciate...being allowed to accompany you."

"How much in terms of chopping-versus-payment ratio?" Hector still kept his hands on his chest.

The cloaked man, Clive, nodded to the shaman. On hearing Hector, though, his headband raised, as if an eyebrow underneath did as well.
: "I can't reliably predict how much trouble there will be. There has been known to be bandits who roam the deserts, looking for easy prey in the form of unprepared travelers trying to get to At-Ilm." Clive leaned forward, "I will be willing to pay eight hundred in advance now, and two thousand at the destination. In addition, it's likely I will hire you again for assistance while there as well."

Harlan raised an eyebrow.

: "2,800 each?"

Clive shook his head.
: "For this job, no." Clive leaned back again and looked to the side, pensive for a moment, "For what comes after, however, that possibility could be arranged."

: "It's more complicated than that. I can't tell you much more." Clive angled his head to look out the door, "At least, not here."
