Kain pinched the bridge of his nose. "In the event that wasn't a joke, we don't have hours to make bricks out of sand."

"Maybe digging a trench to lay in would be effective. I'm not really certain, I don't spend much time in the desert."

: "..." Clive's eyes seemed to lock onto something in the distance, and starts walking towards the cloud. Along the way, he pulls the pack from his shoulder and takes out some sort of tome. As he stopped, he flicked the book open and started to turn the pages at an easy pace, "It's around here."

Hector was bewildered by current conversation and especially by one alien and somewhat terryfyingly sounding word.

"What in blazes is 'aygloo'?"

Atrisse simply pulled the hood farther down over her face, and the veil farther up, wrapping her arms around herself and shivering.

"What's around here?" she asked in a voice discordant with her apparent demeanour; very cheery and curious, almost...innocent.

Clive crouched down, laying the book close to the sandy ground, looking from it to the sand repeatedly. With an assured look, he dug his hand into the ground, looking as if he clasped onto something. A loud crack sounded, and light pulsed from the book, to Clive, then to the ground through him.

As the crack echoed, the sound of stone shifting took its place. The sand surrounding Clive gave way to a sort of sandstone, quickly forming into a staircase leading downwards.

: "Down here." The spy clasped the book in his hand shut before proceeding down the newly formed staircase.

Kain stared dumbfounded at the stairs for several moments before following Clive. "How did you do that?"

Atrisse seemed surprised, though she followed anyway, silently.

There was an awkward pause as both she and Votel tried to let everyone else enter first, but eventually she just gave in and entered.

The stairs downwards spiraled deeper for at least five stories before the claustrophobic walls opened up. Clive stood, looking over a couple indentations in a small room, barely large enough to contain everyone and Votel's horse.
: "There are many entrances like this around the region." Clive muttered in response to Kain, brushing his hand intermittently over the nearly smooth wall, alternating it with looking down into the book in his off hand. Another brush, and a second pulse shot from the book, through Clive, and into the wall, illuminating a sort of vortex symbol, the same seen on the mage caravans that had passed through.

The wall disappeared immediately, without any noise or clatter. Beyond it was a wide, ornate hallway with many torches glowing a bright blue, inset within statues of various shapes. Far in the distance, the light of the sun could be seen. Clive clasped the book shut again, placing it into his pack as he started to walk.

" Where exactly are we?"
Votel asks as he dismount and pull on the lead of the horse
" And this is an entrance to somewhere?"

: "Our destination. At-Ilm." Clive answered with a glance to the left, at a jet-black dragon statue with a torch in its mouth. The inner portions of the flame seemed to glow brighter ever so slightly as they passed each one in turn.

"That's no answer. There was nothing around us for... Miles, probably. How did you identify the correct patch of dirt? This is bothering me."

: "Patterns and ciphers. The residents here do much to ensure only the right people can get in." Clive glanced over to Kain, "At the moment, that's all I can-."

He stopped mid-sentence, the fires of the blue torches glowed a harsh light and suddenly grew massive in size. Clive stopped and looked around, for once with a concerned look on his face. The fire just ahead and behind the party shot from one side to the other, effectively forming a wall that trapped the group in their place.
