Kain quietly unsheathed his iron blade, keeping the sword down to ensure it would not catch the light and alert the newcomers.

Elliotte drew her sword and put one foot ahead.

"Best if we're being careful about this."
Henrigg takes out his bow and readies an arrow, in case the newcomers are hostile.

Harlan did not draw his blade, but instead concealed himself into the shadows provided by the dimming light.

Meanwhile, further away...
"That's dem?" One bandit spoke to a larger axe fighter.
: "Yeah, that one in the brown cloak and the blonde hair." The Fighter responded, "He's loaded, and s'far as I care, s' better in our hands than in the desert with his rotting carcass..."
~~~~~~~
The figures continued to approach, and as the sun finally rose into the sky, the metal glints became all the more clear to be drawn weapons. Clive sighed heavily as he finished stringing the bow.
: "I knew I shouldn't have used the crier." Clive pushed aside his cloak to more easily access a small quiver underneath, "Get ready."
Atrisse swallowed nervously, her hands shaking as she rifled through her bags until she found the item she sought; a black-covered book the size of her chest. Intricate bindings covering the spine and edges, and the corners were shod with brass covers. It must have had over a hundred pages, and should have weighed significantly more than it appeared to, based on the ease with which the girl held it.
Tucking it under her arm, Atrisse took up a place next to the other mercenaries, even unsteady as she was, as the voices in her head argued with one another...
Just let me handle things for a time, child; the fight that is to come is not your place.
No, I-
Please, Atrisse? Listen to Juna, you don't need to prove anything to us, or to them!
Oh, shut it! Let the bitch do it herself for once. She can handle a couple of fuckin' bandits without you babying her all the time.
Well-
Atrisse can handle herself without your help Davis. And watch your language; do you want Sandria taking up after you?
I just-
-ohgodsohgodswe'regonnadieorgetcapturedandrapedandthenkilledandthere'snothingwecandoand-
Calm down, Delsie! For the love of everything that's holy, just shut up! Derrick's balls, girl, you're gonna set him off if you keep that u-
SHUT UP! ALL OF YOU JUST SHUT UP FOR A SECOND SO I CAN THINK!
On the outside, it looked like she was just getting annoyed with something she was looking at, near those approaching them from the distance. As they drew near enough to see clearly, Atrisse could feel the rising presence of one of the Others assuming control. She let them, this time, as she began to walk forward. Juna's gait changed as she walked and the dark magic user took over the job of walking, becoming smoother and longer, her movements languid but never wasted, as she brought the book up and opened it in one fluid motion.
"Your death will serve well, to start," she said, her eyes scanning the pages before her. With a few incanted words that strained the ears to hear, some of the papers in the book crumbled away, and a pulsating beam of dark violet energy shot from her outstretched hand.
Move to 11.7, blast Cutthroat B.
