It's okay to drop people below 0, but you just can't drop them below -10.

Currently, I'm counting the pillars as not Full cover, but let me reread those rules.
Edit: the pillars are pretty thin, only two feet in diameter. They don't cover the entire body, so you can shoot and stab around them.

Once again given your competitors' names and your time slots, you break for lunch, which you cover from your winnings, which you count to be almost 50 gold. Riding the adrenaline high, you skip the research of your opponents.
For bookkeeping purposes, how much exactly?
Also, are the trenches deep enough that hiding in them offers Total Concealment, Total Cover, Partial Cover?
Edit: Also, is "As soon as the referee blows the whistle, you leap into action" conveying I have initiative?

In the interest of moving the game along, I'm going to randomly place Taw and Alleecat unless they tell me where they want to be in the next 45 minutes.

Sorry, I didn't notice your other questions until just now.
You have Partial Concealment and Partial Cover.
And yes, you have initiative.

He disengages from combat briefly, and jumps over the first trench, but falls on all fours when he lands.

Maybe all the five foot steps that were not used by the last guy you fought got saved up and are being used by the elf.

Actually, that was the Disengage action, but I realized I had mixed up 5e and 3.5e. I'll fix that.

How large a city are we in? I'm interested in doing a little shopping, and wondering what my odds are of finding stuff...

You are in the city of Havenshire. It is on the smaller side.

A PM is heading your way, Harbingerjm.
