The enemy troops march into sight, however, they only appear to be deserters and there seems to be some disagreement between their leaders.

"Charge! We avenge Gorick and take the town now!

"Don't do it you idiots! Let them come to us and overwhelm them!

"Shut up, Gil! I said charge so we charge!"

"You shut up Garick! We wait for now! Don't forget that I'm the one in charge."

"Grr... I'm going out, even if I have to go alone. Those of you who aren't cowards come with me!"

"If any of you go with him you'll find my axe in your back sooner than their blades will cut you down!"

"Gods dammit, just what I didn't need right now." We're two short and there's this kid's here too...

"Alright, everyone we're short a few people but they'll catch up. Focus on defense, there seems to be some sort of argument going on. As for the kid, get him into the inn."

Edward steps out of the inn holding a black book in his hand.

"Perhaps I could be of assistance. You said you were short so allow me to help pick up the slack."

"Fine. Don't expect any special treatment just because you've got money at your disposal."

"I wouldn't dream of it."

Lian whirled her head around and saw the large force of bandits. Her sword clicked from its sheath as she pushed it loose, but then she looked to the house up north.
: "Rrh..." She grumbled as she set her sword back and made to quickly ford the river.

Martyn was just placing the last few nails in the first barricade when the alarm bell began to ring.

"Damn it all."

He tossed the hammer aside and picked up the spear leaning against a nearby wall, gesturing for Hilde to follow as he ran towards the west.

"C'mon!  That's our side of town.  The others might need help!"

Hilde sighed as she heard the alarm. Well, I guess it wasn't going as well as she hoped.

"Ach, ah'll be following ye!"

She followed Martyn as best she could. She only had a staff and knowledge of healing, but generally it was found to be useful in battle.

Alexios continued to sprint right behind Aneira.

  "Of all times for an attack...Peter, go hide in the inn. We'll have to delay the meal until I finish my job."

Drawing his sword, Ekul takes a few steps to the building nearby and rapped at the door.

Martyn took quick stock of the situation, eyes coolly scanning the field and the mass of bandits (deserters?  They were often one and the same) to the south.  His eyes finally settled on the woman now running across the river, towards the house on the other side.  He came to a decision.

"Hilde, follow after Lian.  We'll be able to hold them at the ford until we can regroup."

Taking his own advice, he hefts his spear and moves to 9,4.

Feeling rather good about himself, Ekul moves around the house, trying to set up his position to be able to support his allies(hopefully) while staying just outside charging range of the enemy.
